It’s another recruiting battle, this time for a highly touted 185-pound, four-star wide receiver from Virginia. Sherrone Moore appears to be leading the race. But Kirby Smart and Georgia aren’t giving up easily. Moore’s already secured Bryce Underwood for his 2025 class, boosting his national ranking to sixth, but he’s now aiming to build the same momentum for 2026. And he reportedly has the upper hand over Georgia in this recruitment. Seems like the game is turning one-sided, but is there anything really set in stone when it comes to CFB recruiting?
First things first: Who’s this 6’3, 185-pound freak making major moves towards Sherrone Moore’s Michigan? It’s none other than Trinity Episcopal’s 4-star WR, Davion Brown. This guy already has 32 offers in his hands, and now he is going to make his first-ever visit to Ann Arbor. As Michigan’s recruiting insider, EJ Holland hits X with the news saying, “Four-star WR Davion Brown (@davion__brown) is ready to make his first visit to Michigan tomorrow.” Now, this is going to be an unofficial visit before Brown makes one official.
But, like always, Michigan isn’t the only one locking a visit with Davion Brown. Even Penn State, Syracuse, Georgia, and Duke are going to get him on campus. But for now, Sherrone Moore’s team is making a major impact on him. As talking to Holland, he said, “I want to get a feel of the culture and see how the coaches develop and interact with the players.” Apart from Davion Brown, Michigan is also pushing really hard to get No. 1 WR of the 2026 class, Tristen Keys.

Look, Sherrone Moore’s 2026 recruiting class needs a major push as they only have 3 commits so far. They are 4-star CB Brody Jennings, 3-star IOL Bear McWhorter, and 3-star WR Jaylen Pile. And even though they are ranking 11th in Big 10, they are not even in the Top 30’s list nationally. As they rank at 40th position. So, having Davion Brown would not only fortify their 2026 squad but will also push their stock.
Michigan’s recruiting is hot, but wide receiver lagged. Roman Wilson and Cornelius Johnson were drafted, but before that, recruiting at the position stalled. Nico Collins and Donovan Peoples-Jones were previous successes, but Michigan historically didn’t prioritize wideouts. That needs to change now, and it’s a work in progress. With top recruit Bryce Underwood now in Ann Arbor and new offensive coordinator Chip Lindsey, Michigan’s passing game is ready for a breakout. They’ve already landed three 2025 wide receivers: Andrew Marsh, Jacob Washington, and Jamar Browder. Plus, 247Sports’ No. 149 overall prospect, Davion Brown, a talented receiver in the 2026 class, is a key target. And let’s not forget Michigan’s Richie Rich – Larry Ellison – who can attract top players with high-priced NIL amounts.
Well, Michigan is loaded, and that’s not a good sign for Kirby Smart’s Georgia, who trying really hard to secure Davion Brown’s commitment.

Sherrone Moore’s push brings unsaid stress on Kirby Smart
Sherrone Moore isn’t crazy; he’s shrewd. Davion Brown is a highlight reel, and Michigan’s coaches see his potential. The stats scream it: 42 catches, 946 yards, 10 touchdowns in eight games. That’s not production; it’s dominance. Brown led his team to a state title in 2022 and the championship game in 2023. Even with a 5-4 record last year, they reached the Virginia Independent Schools Athletic Association (VISAA) semifinals. That resume demands a ‘clear the runway’ approach.
But Georgia looms large. They offered Brown on January 15, landing on his shortlist without a visit—pure SEC influence. UGA already boasts receivers like Vance Spafford and Lincoln Keyes in their 2026 class and a strong defensive lineup with Zech Fort, Jontavius Wyman, and Seven Cloud. Add in their pursuit of five-stars Brandon Arrington and Jackson Cantwell, and it’s clear: Kirby Smart isn’t rebuilding; he’s reloading. And that’s something hard to ignore. Well, they aren’t the only ones pushing hard for Davion Brown.
Now, Michigan’s aggressive pursuit makes sense; Brown isn’t just a top recruit, he’s a potential program-changer. With Georgia and Syracuse intensely competing, Sherrone Moore and his staff know landing Brown could dramatically alter their program’s future. Whether it’s Michigan or Georgia, securing Brown could be a game-changer. Let’s wait and see how things turn around for him after Michigan’s visit.
