Did Davis Warren just cement his legacy as Michigan's most selfless QB with this stunning win?

The Michigan Wolverines are now roaring again! Yes, you can no longer hate the Wolverines HC Sherrone Moore and his boys after today. The November 23 game has indeed been a great one for them. Well, they crushed the Northwestern Wildcats 50-6! Yes, you read that right; they made the Wildcats pack their bags and leave with a single-digit score. And it looks like HC Moore is now obsessing over only one name after bagging the big win. That’s none other than their signal caller, Davis Warren. The HC could not stop talking about his star QB’s big and ‘selfless’ heart that added up to the position Michigan has achieved today. That’s how Warren’s “last” home game got special.

Yes, we know how Moore and Co. had been extremely unlucky not to get enough moments to throw a celebration. But Saturday was a bit different. After all, the Wolverines were able to throttle Northwestern on senior day at the Michigan Stadium. With this victory, Moore’s program now becomes bowl-eligible as they head for next week’s regular-season finale against Ryan Day’s Ohio State Buckeyes. Before that, Moore thought it wise to give a shoutout to the star of the evening. During the post-game conference, a reporter handed the HC the much-awaited chance to throw a praise party for Warren as he questioned, “What are the most important things that Davis Warren did to improve this year and touch on his accomplishments?”

Moore was thrilled to find out how the signal-caller did not let his ego win. Instead, he dedicated himself to patience and hard work. The HC started with, “I mean just what a selfless guy first because when you’re the starter and you get benched, you can easily have a selfless negative attitude, and he was the complete opposite.” Well, we all know that Michigan benched Warren after he threw three interceptions in a game against Arkansas State. But that didn’t leave the QB to be bitter about the program and turn himself away.

Instead, he kept on pouring his best for the program. During Saturday’s game, against the Northwestern Wildcats, the signal caller had his career highs with 26 completions and 35 passing attempts for 195 yards. So, this fills Moore’s heart with pride as he claimed, “Be a great example of what you want for a kid that’s been through so much in his life. He’s just a great example for me. He’s a great example for our team.” Now that Warren is soaring high, does Moore have any role to play?

Sherrone Moore’s unwavering trust in Davis Warren pays off

What’s your perspective on:

Did Davis Warren just cement his legacy as Michigan's most selfless QB with this stunning win?

Have an interesting take?

A part of Michigan’s woes this season is because of their assistant coach and offensive coordinator, Kirk Campbell. Their offense became one of the worst offenses we have seen here in Michigan. Obviously, Warren could not escape the blows. Coming off as inexperienced, the Wolverines’ offensive line failed to protect him. And what was the outcome? The signal-caller was stuck at 16 for 32 in 137 yards. However, going by Moore’s statement, it was obvious that the HC trusted him blindly.

So since Warren was already in a sticky spot, not getting support from the HC would have added to the QB’s problems. This helped the player to improve himself as a passer, as he had to find his groove before November 23. After all, it was a special day for Moore to gift an amazing evening to the fans.

Saturday marked the “last” Michigan game day as Sherrone Moore and his boys had their last chance to woo the fans in Ann Arbor in their final home game. Much before the HC made Davis Warren’s day with his kind words, it was the QB’s sweetheart Julia Heilman who posted a heartfelt IG story with the caption, “4 years of Michigan game days.” That’s how good times roll for Warren, overflowing with love and support!
