Sherrone Moore isn’t just trying to beat Georgia on the field. He’s aiming to hit Kirby Smart where it hurts—on the recruiting trail. Michigan’s 2025 class already looks formidable, especially with the arrival of No. 1 overall prospect Bryce Underwood. But 2026 is shaping up in the right direction. The Wolverines have already secured a 4-star Jaylen Pile, but that’s just the start. Now, Moore is taking the fight straight to the SEC territory, targeting two of Georgia’s home-grown WRs.
Michigan Sports Talk on March 7 delivered good news on Michigan’s recruiting front regarding two Georgia WRs—Nalin Scott and Christian Ward. This 4-star duo aren’t just two highly-touted wideouts; they’re also teammates on the 7-on-7 circuit. And they’re talking about Michigan. Citing On3’s Ethan McDowell’s report, “They’re both interested in teaming up together at the next level, and Michigan gives them that opportunity where they’re both offered at.”
According to On3, Ward has noted that “it would be cool to play with him [Scott],” and Nalin Scott echoed that sentiment, confirming the pair “most definitely talk about [Michigan] all the time.” It looks like “Michigan could be getting a duo at the wide receiver position,” which would be a huge step forward in the recruitment race for Sherrone Moore, especially with Georgia also offering both prospects.

Nalin Scott, a 6’2, 200-pound receiver from Powder Springs, GA, is a dynamic athlete who also participates in track and field. He’s ranked No. 217 nationally, No. 36 as a WR, and No 21 in the state of Georgia. He already has 34 offers from programs like Florida, LSU, Texas A&M, and more. Meanwhile, 6’3, 178-pound Christian Ward from Marietta, GA, has seen Michigan rise to the top of his list in record time. Since a late January offer, the Wolverines sprang ahead of SEC powerhouses like Alabama, Ole Miss, and Georgia in his recruitment.
Perhaps the presence of Bryce Underwood is a huge factor in their inclination. When you land the No. 1 QB in the nation, elite receivers take notice. “I love the coach for sure and the quarterback, so I feel like that would be a good move,” Ward said. Sherrone Moore knows that surrounding his crown jewel with elite weapons is key to making a truly explosive offense. And if he can land the duo, it would send the message that Michigan is here to play the game with the SEC.
Is Sherrone Moore about to deal a big blow to Georgia?
For Kirby Smart, this isn’t just about losing two in-state receivers; it’s about losing to Michigan. Georgia has long been one of the most dominant programs in the country, especially when it comes to retaining home-grown talents. If Sherrone Moore swoops in and pulls off this heist, it would be a huge blow for the Bulldogs, who have the Wolverines in the shadow of some of their top targets.

Georgia’s pursuit for 2026 No. 1 RB Savion Hiter is by no means an easy path. But Michigan has appeared alongside the race and has become a top contender in the pursuit. And even their 4-star Richmond WR target, Davion Brown, listed Michigan as one of his final five schools. The battle is on, but recruiting is a long game, and anything could change.

As of now, Michigan has positioned themselves as legitimate threats to steal two elite GA receivers. If Sherrone Moore succeeds, it won’t just be a win for the Wolverines. It’ll be a dagger to Georgia’s recruiting stronghold.
