‘No mess up 2025.’ Well, this must be Michigan Wolverines HC Sherrone Moore’s motto for this season. After all, he has had enough while trying to fill Jim Harbaugh’s shoes. When it comes to the players’ roster, Moore has been left in a messy situation. While the debut HC tried to mend things little by little, still he had major regrets when it came to recruitment. So, now that a new season is here, Moore is making the most of it. And his hard work is paying off. For quite some time, the $74 million NFL veteran’s brother has been a hot target. Looks like Moore caught some FOMO and is now part of the race to land him. However, there will be some serious competition from Ohio State, Alabama and Miami.
Yes, the Wolverines could not make it to the playoffs even after coming off as the defending champions. But did ending the season in 8-5 break Moore’s morale? Not all. Rather, the HC is rising like a phoenix. Right now, Moore is giving his blood, sweat, and tears to squeeze out the best talent from the transfer portal. The Wolverines have brought in 14 transfer players in the winter portal. However, the HC is in no mood to sit back and relax. Rather, he scouts through more options that could be a strong addition to his players’ roster. Right now, he could not miss out on the opportunity to pursue the hot target.

That’s none other than Justice Fitzpatrick. On February 7, the player tweeted, “Blessed to receive an offer from The University of Michigan!🔵🟡🙏🏾#AGTG @CoachHarriott.” What makes suitors swarm around the player from Fort Lauderdale? Well, as per 247 Sports, he is the No. 57 overall player and No. 5 cornerback. The 6-foot-1, 185-pounder finished the season with 34 tackles, two interceptions, seven pass breakups, and one forced fumble. Plus, he earned the Junior All-American tag after he led St. Thomas Aquinas to win their sixth straight state championship. Looks like there is one more big reason behind Justice’s popularity.
He is the brother of Pittsburgh Steelers safety Minkah Fitzpatrick. On June 15, 2022, the Steelers signed him to a four-year, $73.61 million contract. Meanwhile, Ryan Day and Ohio State are reportedly prioritizing Justice, adding to an already impressive 2026 recruiting class. In case the young chap lands with the Buckeyes, he would be an important part of the Buckeyes defense. Then comes Alabama in the Justice race.
Well, looks like the Crimson Tide’s offer came early in June 2024 when the player tweeted about the offer. If you think that’s all that Justice has on his plate, his mother gave an interview to Bama247. She said that her son will take spring visits to Miami, Georgia, Clemson, Tennessee, Florida, and Florida State. Now where does Moore stand in the race?
Can Sherrone Moore keep the momentum going?
Out of all competitors, Moore’s Wolverines are likely to face the toughest competition from Kalen DeBoer’s Crimson Tide. Why so? Well, Justice’s brother Minkah is the former Alabama safety who played under Nick Saban between 2015 and 2017. If the player lands with Bama, it would make history. After all, this would mark the first time that a set of brothers both attended Alabama and played for two different coaches.

Maybe that’s because Justice has already become a priority target for the Crimson Tide. His first visit of the summer will be to Tuscaloosa. However, can we underestimate Moore when it comes to recruiting players? Surely, not. After all, that man has set the bar high for himself after landing the No.1 recruit, Bryce Underwood. Even after that, he kept on spreading his magic.
The Wolverines’ 2025 class now has 24 signees overall. In a mission to add more stars to his roster, Sherrone Moore landed their third kicker of the season, Texas State transfer Beckham Sunderland. The player was previously a goalkeeper for FC Cincinnati and had competed in the MLS.
