Is Sherrone Moore's career at Michigan doomed after the Connor Stallion scandal? What's your take?

Back on August 5th, Paul Finebaum had an interesting take when he was asked regarding the NCAA and what their decision could be for the entire sign-stealing issue that happened at Michigan. Finebaum was direct with his answer, stating that the ‘“NCAA is powerless” to do anything to Sherrone Moore & Co. Now that seems further away from the truth because just a few weeks later, we saw the NCAA slam former Wolverines HC Jim Harbaugh with a 4 year show-cause penalty because of his involvement in the entire thing. And now, the NCAA is coming for Sherrone Moore as well.

On August 27th, The Monty Show on YouTube discussed the entire thing, revealing the penalties that Moore could face. “Probably going to face significant penalties because he is a repeat offender,” The Monty Show noted. In the draft report, the NCAA had noted that Moore had deleted multiple strings of texts between him and Connor Stallion. This marks him as one of the main suspects. It does not even matter what the texts were of. Deleting them during the investigation automatically brands him as an offender. Not only that, as per the NCAA, Moore had also broken multiple rules during the COVID-19 period. All of this makes him a repeat offender. The NCAA had noted that Moore could look towards suspension or, worse, a show cause penalty like Harbaugh. This is wild. We all know that Michigan lately has been struggling. They have lost the coach who took them to a solid season win. They have lost their lead QB JJ McCarthy and Moore has not even picked a new starting quarterback for the team.

Chad Withrow put it perfectly back on August 8th on OutKick Hot Mic. “Michigan man is dead,” Withrow had noted. We even spotted Joel Klatt snubbing the Wolverines from his list of top 10 teams in the current season. Klatt instead decided to stick with Oregon and Ohio State. Harbaugh took the team to 3 national wins, however, he ain’t here anymore. This would be Moore’s first season as the HC for the Wolverines and it is already a disaster. And if all of this wasn’t enough, Moore also managed to lose his rank on the Top 25 Team Recruiting Ranking.

Not a good year for Moore

Back on August 20th, 247Sports released their top 25 ranking, and to everyone’s surprise, Michigan is on 15th. Moore managed to lose 3 key players for the team’s 2025 recruitment class. The first kid was 4-star DL Maxwell Roy who went to Ohio State. Following this came OL Hardy Watts, who went to Wisconsin. And now, he has managed to lose 4-star Marco Jones in Texas. Jones was noted by 247Sports as the No.167 prospect nationally.

While Moore has managed to regain some confidence with his recruitment of CB Jayden Sanders on August 10th. The future ain’t looking that bright for the team. As we wait for the NCAA’s final decision, it is safe to say that this year will be rough for the Wolverines.
