Is Michigan's $10 million gamble on Bryce Underwood a desperate move or a smart investment?

The defending champions are struggling badly this season. 5-5! We are sure head coach

Sherrone Moore likely didn’t anticipate such difficulties when he took over. They were supposed to win this week to keep their playoff hope alive. Unfortunately, the result was not in their favor, and they lost to one of the strongest teams this season, Indiana, 20-15 and handed them their straight tenth victory of the season. Michigan does not have anything to lose now this season. Many experts and insiders want them to focus on recruiting new players.

Twin Brothers from Rochester, NY, have something similar to say to Moore.

In the latest episode of ROC Boys Football, they discussed that Michigan needs a change in their offense. From the past few weeks, Michigan has been running behind the nation’s top quarterback, Bryce Underwood. But let us tell you, he is an LSU commit; however, Michigan is trying its best to have him on its team.

The podcaster highlighted the need for recruiting top athletes and mentioned,

“You’re entering the last month until signing day. You have guys like Andrew Marsh and Andrew Olesh who are committed to play for Michigan looking at this offense, saying I wouldn’t blame those kids for saying I’m having second thoughts about committing to a program that this offense looks like it just is clueless out there, and so I think a change should happen sooner rather than later.” But now the big question is, will Bryce still flip his decision in Michigan’s favor despite their poor performance?

He further urged Moore and his staff to go out of the way and do their job because their performance this season did not speak for them: “I think Michigan should, you know, reach into their pockets like they will in the NIL department in the transfer portal, which we fully expect but go get an elite offensive coordinator, go get an elite player.”

Michgan’s biggest problem this season was their poor offensive line and the quarterback situation, which started in the initial weeks of the season. Playoffs are around the corner, and they are still stuck there. So far, they have played with four quarterbacks. Yes! Better late than never, they finally tried doing something about it, and now they are going full-on for Underwood.

Michigan’s $10 million deal draws attention

MSU’s arch-rival Michigan is trying its best to have Underwood on its team. According to CBS Sports Michigan, they are going to offer him a higher amount than they previously thought. Are they going to throw a bank at him? Looks like so. Now, this is getting interesting, but let us tell you a few weeks ago, Underwood showed some positive impressions on LSU’s social media.

What exactly is happening? Sports Illustrated tried to dig deeply into the matter and found out, “The website On3 initially reported a figure for Underwood may be near $5 million, but multiple conversations CBS Sports and 247Sports have had with sources across the industry paint the real number to be something closer to double that (over the course of several seasons). There should be no surprise at the high cost of doing business in the NIL era with a highly-touted prospect.”

What do you think about their strategy? As of now, it looks like they are on the right track but will all of this affect Underwood in a positive way? At the end of the day, it is about money. Let’s see what he chooses.
