The 2024 kickoff has just started, but look how the tables are already turning! It seems that Colorado Buffaloes are trapped in a cycle of woes. But never in his wildest dreams did Deion Sanders expect that fellow HC Sherrone Moore would be the one to give him a tough time. But again, this season, the Buffs are no longer surprised since they have already got enough reality checks. And here enters Moore with his moves to lure a four-star commit away from Deion who is always accused of targeting the transfer portal. However, the Buffs HC would not cared much if the commit had not been hailed as Travis Hunter’s potential replacement.
The IMG Academy junior, Alex Graham had been the talk of the town for quite some time now. The 2025 Detroit Cass Tech four-star CB at the moment is all about self-growth, as he claimed, “I’m staying healthy. That’s been the biggest thing with my whole high school career, staying healthy. I’m back here at Cass playing both sides, and I’m healthy, so I’d say it’s going good.” While the Buffs might be confident about the 6-foot-0, 185-pounder who committed to Colorado in April, but for the moment the Buffs have to keep their excitement in check. But why so?

Even though Graham has got the Black & Gold badge, it did not stop other programs from pursuing the four-star commit. Amidst the other programs, at the moment, it’s the Michigan Wolverines who are coming off as the first in the ‘Mission Graham.’ The player himself admitted, “For the most part, no. It’s just Michigan right now…I was used to [former Michigan defensive backs] Coach [Steve] Clink[scale] and everybody else, but when Coach Morgan came in, he was a great dude.”

Ever since the Buffs HC landed in Boulder, not even for once did he go door-to-door to reel in fresh talent. The transfer portal always had his faith. In such a scenario, Moore’s move comes off as a huge blow for Deion Sanders as the Wolverines had followed high school recruiting from the very beginning. Meanwhile, it’s the same Graham for whom the Buffs had defeated Lane Kiffin’s Ole Miss.
How the commit made Deion Sanders feel special
The cornerback is the nation’s No.135 overall player as per the On3 Industry Ranking. This was enough for Deion to go head over heels. And since he is already perturbed about seeking Hunter’s replacement, assurance from Graham’s end worked like magic. Even though not much information could be gathered about the CB’s take on the Buffs, here the Locked on Buffs podcast host, Kevin Borba came up with some interesting insights.

As per the conversation that took place with the four-star commit, the analyst revealed, “When he talked about Colorado he said with Colorado it’s a development. They have there every coach on the team played in the league for a good amount of years.” Not just this, Graham had been all about grand gestures for Deion’s program. Right after his commitment, he recreated Deion Sanders’ famous look from the 1989 Draft Day.
Alex Graham pulled off the iconic look with the shades and the wired telephone. In the same tweet, he was spotted donning the No.3 Colorado jersey. With all that confidence in his corner, Deion Sanders might need some time to accept his 4-star commit jumping ship and joining forces with Sherrone Moore.
