Shedeur Sanders' rise: Is this the ultimate payback for Coach Prime's salty snub?

After the entire CBS reporter thing happened, Jason Whitlock dragged Deion Sanders through the mud. Deion, being Deion, had decided during a press conference that he wouldn’t answer any questions from any CBS reporter. This reaction happened because CBS had called Coach Prime the 2nd worst coach in the Big 12. While the drama eventually subsided, when we saw back on August 13th that Deion Sanders wasn’t salty regarding the entire scene with CBS, it did earn Coach Prime and his son Shedeur Sanders quite the boost from the news publication. Back on August 20th, CBS reported that Shedeur Sanders would be the top 4th draft pick during the 2025 NFL drafts.

This time around, on September 4th, CBS continues to add the sweet touch to Shedeur Sanders and his overall potential. CBS reporter Ryan Wilson took to X to share the new First Pick QB Rankings. “Shedeur Sanders was No. 1 on our individual @NFLDraftCBS Week 1 QB Rankings,” Wilson noted in the caption of his post. Now, some people might say that CBS is glazing Deion or Shedeur but true Buffs fans know that Shedeur has earned this praise.

If we look at 2023 itself, keeping aside the sacks, Shedeur managed to perform damn well despite having a terrible O-line. The dude had a completion rate of around 72% and that is bonkers because that was the 13th highest the entire season despite being the most sacked QB that year. This alone says a lot about the guy. If we go back and check what he accomplished during the NDSU game, you’d know that CBS ain’t glazing no one. He locked in 4 TDs and 1 interception throughout the game.

That ain’t even the best part. He managed to accurately land a 69-yard pass to Jimmy Horn Jr. during the second quarter of the game. We will still keep it 100% and say that the rest of the O-line was not up to the mark. There were a lot of shouts regarding Coach Prime’s revamped O-line. However, only Jordan Seaton and Tyler Brown stood out with their performance. The boys on the O-line have to step up and match the level where Shedeur, Travis Hunter, or Jimmy Horn play, or else they will be having a rough time against Nebraska on Saturday.

Regardless of what happens on the weekend, this entire NFL draft pick ranking does raise the question regarding where Shedeur will head after this season is over.

Is Shedeur Sanders a confirmed Cowboy?

Have an interesting take?

Giddy up cause we probably have the answer. With the entire Dak Prescott contract blowing up, Cowboys owner Jerry Jones needs new blood on his team. Prescott will probably not have a renewed contract next year, and that opens the doors for Shedeur’s entry into the team. We already got to know back on August 12th that Jones has his eyes on the QB. “Shedeur Sanders is reportedly a ‘top prospect’ in the eyes of Jerry Jones,” Rookie Watch had reported back on X.

The dude has the skills. NFL Analyst Daniel Jeremiah had noted beforehand that, “Sanders has the foundation in place to develop into a solid NFL starter.” ESPN’s Jordan Reid shared the same feeling. Reid had mentioned that Shedeur has an amazing ability to drive the ball. This paired with his accuracy gives him a solid advantage over others.

Reid’s main concern was that Shedeur often tends to hold on to the ball for too long. However, the Bison’s game showed us that Shedeur has improved from that aspect because he managed to slip in passes every time he had the window for it. Still, it is too early to say anything. We still gotta wait and watch how he does against Rhule and the Cornhuskers.
