Shedeur Sanders just saw a drop in his NIL earnings after the fresh loss against Nebraska. It’s an ouch factor to him who is the top 1 in the NCAA with the highest NIL valuation according to On3 NIL. But why the drop? Was it his loss? Was it his rambling?
The Colorado Buffs QB led the college student-athletes as the highest NIL earners which recently raised with his major deal with Nike in August. It skyrocketed his earnings from $4.7 million to a whopping $5.1 million. The second on the list is gymnast Livvy Dunne, with $3.9 million. A stark difference between the No. 1 and No. 2! But it looks like Shedeur Sanders just faced a financial setback.
According to On3 NIL’s latest rankings on NCAA athletes, Shedeur Sanders’ $5.1 million saw a decrease of $386K after Colorado’s Week 2 loss against Nebraska. This hit came two weeks after his collaboration with Nike to become the first college student-athlete to endorse this major brand. On August 28, Shedeur made headlines with his new deal with Nike which would allow him to follow in his father Deion Sanders’ footsteps in creating and designing his own style of sneakers and cleats.

The Buffs QB previously revealed on the 2Legendary with Shedeur Sanders podcast that he wishes to continue his father’s brand. He said, “I would want to build on it, have like a different version.” Shedeur is already a popular name and is a role model for many fans. However, this sharp decline in his financial balance could mostly stem from his reaction to the Nebraska game.
Shedeur Sanders displays unsportsmanlike behavior
Shedeur Sanders didn’t play like a potential Heisman Trophy contender in the game where Colorado was crushed by Nebraska 28-10. He had a 60 percent completion rate, passing for 244 yards and one touchdown, and even left the game two minutes earlier. But Shedeur also didn’t play the best role model role for fans.
After the game, Shedeur Sanders put his frustration into words, but it did not come out well. “I wasn’t protected like I needed to be. The O-line just didn’t give me the time to make plays.” Pointing fingers? He even targeted freshman WR Drelon Miller and criticized his “rookie mistake” for running “the wrong route.” Whatever happens to the Buffs’ chemistry after that, they must sort it out ASAP. United they will stand, but divided, this season could turn out like last season.
