Does the constant comparison to Cam Ward unfairly overshadow Shedeur Sanders' own achievements and potential?

Remember the time when Cam Ward went viral for trash-taking Shedeur Sanders? Well, it wasn’t that long ago! But did you know that the Buffs QB and the Miami QB are best chums? Definitely not. Everyone was focusing on the fights and pushing, keeping all the good times under the rug. So much so, that it had been no less than a mental toil for Shedeur who broke his silence on his bonding with Cam. Maybe the QB got inspired by his big brother, Deion Sanders Jr. who too showered the Miami QB with praise.

Back in July, Shedeur and Ward got into a verbal fight during practice about who was better at throwing deep passes. That’s when the Miami Hurricanes QB went all overboard with Shedeur’s weakness in catching yards. Ward at that time held a record of 3,735 while the Buffs QB was at 3,230 yards. But gone are those days!

Deion Sanders’ son is over that bitterness and the duo has worked on their bonds. So much so, that on the 2Legendary with Shedeur Sanders podcast, the Buffs QB claimed to have gone emotional on seeing Ward raging against Virginia Tech. What followed next would definitely blow the minds of the CFB fans when Shedeur claimed, “I just hate when people always try to put us against each other.”

Whenever Shedeur and Cam’s names are taken together, the fans only get the flashback from the ugly verbal scuffle. But that’s so sad. “Because bro we don’t. We’re cool bro like we don’t really you know care or ever compare ourselves to each other. Everything is always friendly and jokes,” clarified the Buffs QB.

Things might have been tough on Shedeur’s end now that the Buffs QB no longer holds the top spot in the fans’ favorite list. After Ward went 19-of-28 for 346 yards and five touchdowns against the Cardinals, fans dropped in to hype up their new favorite. Not only fans, but even the college football scout, Brett Hoffman dropped in with his bold claim, “Cam Ward going 1st overall in the NFL draft. told you he’s HIM last year.” Besides the NFL Draft, something greater awaits for Ward.

College football reaps the fruits of Shedeur Sanders and Cam Ward’s mutual motivation

Like Shedeur, Ward’s prospects in the Heisman race look promising. So much so that the Well Off Media tycoon and Shedeur’s brother could not help but promote this young talent. On September 24th, the Well Off Forever dropped a post on Instagram hyping up Ward by sharing his interview clip. Deion Jr. won CFB fans’ hearts with the caption for Ward where he wrote, “Heisman Front Runner.”

Have an interesting take?

And guess what? Ward is not giving Shedeur tough competition only in the Heisman race and the 2025 NFL Draft. NIL is something that has always been the Buffs QB’s forte. Recently, his valuation went up from $4.7 million to $5.1 million. And here Ward embarks on a mission to be on the same level as his buddy.

While he has yet a long way to go to catch up with Shedeur Sanders, Cam Ward’s NIL deals don’t look weak either, standing at a total of $1.9 million in NIL earnings. The Miami Hurricanes QB has been a center of attention ever since he came throwing for a school-record 385 yards along with three touchdowns against their interstate rival Florida Gators. With this, even the $2.787 billion health and wellness brand Nutrabolt’s C4 Energy handed him a $238K deal. Well, looks like someone’s having a great season so far!
