Colorado Buffaloes’ Shedeur Sanders is widely predicted to be the top pick for the 2025 NFL Draft. Throughout the eight games he played this season, he has thrown for 2591 yards, 21 touchdowns, and six interceptions. Resulted in a 73.3 completion percentage. Major analysts are expecting his name to be in the top five at least. On top of that, theories are hinting at Shedeur Sanders replacing the Las Vegas raiders’ Gardner Minshew. All that hype and glory Shedeur had been living in, and now comes bad news! Yeah, a former NFL star washed off almost all the NFL hopes for Shedeur Sanders.
Former New York Jets scout Daniel Kelly made a shocking revelation through an X post he shared on November 8, 2024. “There are 5 reasons NFL teams should be concerned about Shedeur Sanders.” After this, Kelly wrote about 5 reasons to support his argument. “Hesitation pulling the trigger,” he mentioned as the first point.
As per him, Shedeur is the most sacked QB in the past two seasons, with 77 times and counting. While the buff’s offensive line was getting targeted, it started way earlier. At Jackson State, Shedeur was sacked 58 times, even though he played FCS with a different line. Including that, Shedeur’s career sacks are 135 so far. Seems like an issue? Well, in the 2023 season, his throw average was 2.89 seconds, slower than Carson Beck’s 2.39 and Garrett Nussimeir’s 2.42. All that highlights Shedeur’s slower mental processing and hesitation in pulling the trigger.

The 2nd thing he mentioned is a “lack of throwing anticipation into the intermediate route level vs. man coverage.” Kelly explained how Shedeur waits to throw till the receiver makes their break, and he releases only when the window is clear. In contrast, NFL QBs need to throw before the break. This kind of lack of anticipation was evident throughout this season.
The 3rd issue he mentioned is “Ball security issues.” Although Shedeur has thrown only 9 interceptions in the two seasons he played, still Ball security is an issue. In an 18-game analysis, Shedeur had 46 pass breakups, which says defenders are hitting 2.55 of his passes each game. Those numbers highlight an issue beyond the interceptions. Moreover, he highlighted a list of 10 character issues as the 4th concern as to why Shedeur Sanders will not be an ideal NFL player.
We’ll discuss those character issues in a while. Before that, Daniel Kelly had given 5th and final concern over Shedeur Sanders’ NFL debut, which is “medical.” He recalled Shedeur Sanders’ ankle injury, which could be an imitation of his NFL career. Now let’s look at those 10 character issues Kelly mentioned about Shedeur Sanders.

Daniel Kelly from the first round mock shared a list of 10 character concerns for Shedeur Sanders. The first one says Shedeur Sanders is “flagged for unsportsmanlike conduct against Nebraska for removing his helmet (2023).” The second point he mentioned about Sanders is “pre-game verbal altercations vs. Colorado State (2023).” Remember Shedeur Sanders calling his opponent’s hoes before game time? Kelly recalled that incident.
As the third point, he recalled an incident from last season when Shedeur Sanders was seen getting in Colorado State DB Henry Backburn’s face after a late hit by Blackburn. Moving forward, Kelly recalled how Shedeur Sanders was seen poking a Colorado State defender in the eye back in 2023.
The 5th incident he mentioned was when Shedeur Sanders grabbed the Shamari Simmons mouthpiece and threw it in the stands after a touchdown. Then he linked another such instance when Shedeur flexed his costly watch to ASU students, which surfaced a lot of buzz online. At last, they recalled Shedeur’s problematic behavior as he refused to shake hands with Colorado State QB Brayden Fowler-Nicolosi after the game.
Whoa! So much to hate on Shedeur Sanders! recalling all these major events from his career, it looks like Shedeur really needs a kind of discipline if he aims to play in the NFL next year. What are your thoughts on that? Are you a Colorado fan who still criticizes Shedeur Sanders?
