Is Shedeur Sanders truly Heisman material, or just riding the coattails of his teammates?

So, here’s the thing. The entire discussion about Shedeur Sanders being a good QB has been going on since 2023. The Buffs went 4-8 last year and Shedeur Sanders was marked as the most sacked QB. For this, you can blame the offensive line. They did almost nothing last year and well, this time? They are in a good spot.

And Shedeur Sanders? That guy is in the best shape possible. However, the question of whether Shedeur will make it to the Heisman remains without a solid answer. More so because many more “better” QBs have emerged this season.

Like Dan Le Batard noted on the Dan Le Batard Show. “Cam Ward is the best quarterback this program has ever had… What I’m saying is I have never seen a quarterback be this much better than all the other quarterbacks who are playing football. He can score against anybody,” Batard mentioned. It is true. The Hurricanes have been on a wild run this season. While the Bears game did manage to slow down the team, they still pulled a win, all thanks to Cam Ward‘s final touchdown.

If you even go back to the Virginia Tech game, Ward managed to turn things around. 31-34 was where the Hurricanes were stuck. It felt like the unbeatable run was almost over. With Ward’s final touchdown at the 1:57 mark, Miami managed to pull things back into their favor.

What’s your perspective on:

Is Shedeur Sanders truly Heisman material, or just riding the coattails of his teammates?

Have an interesting take?

With the win over the Cardinals, Ward and his Heisman odds have reached a peak of +200. Dude managed to snag 4 touchdowns that game and 319 yards under his belt. But, what about Shedeur Sanders? The Buffs are having possibly the best season since 2018 with 5 wins under their belt. The 4-8 jokes are finally over and the game against Arizona was a splendor. But we gotta reel it back. Is Shedeur Sanders a good QB? The game against Kansas State is the perfect answer.

Many have believed that Shedeur is only good on the turf when he has Travis Hunter or Jimmy Horn Jr. with him. However, what does Shedeur do when he loses both of the best WRs the Buffs have? He pulls in 3 touchdowns and goes over 380 yards. See, you will be lying to yourself if you say the Wildcats game wasn’t the perfect showcase of Shedeur’s actual talent as a quarterback. He had no one.

The offense was failing once again and the WR depth was all over the place with multiple serious injuries. And this guy still managed to linger around and make an impact till the very end. There is a shot at both QBs making the Heisman list, but who will win it? Well, we got a whole season left to find out. However, there is one thing we gotta point out. Ward and Shedeur ain’t the only ones seriously fighting it out for the trophy.

The Heisman dilemma for Travis Hunter

Okay so, Travis Hunter. 3 games. The Rams, Baylor, and Knights. Hunter was on point. You say interception, yards, run game, or touchdown, this guy did it all. The hype reached a point where everyone out there had only one name in their mouth for the Heisman trophy; that is Travis Hunter. But then comes the roadblock. Against Kansas State, Hunter was sidelined because of a shoulder injury.

The odds of him returning for the Arizona showdown were quite small, but he did make a comeback. Back on Outta Pocket, Hunter made a clear statement that he was coming for everyone. But guess what happened next? He was pulled off the field because of aggravating his shoulder injury. And this started a whole wave of trolling on the internet. Not because he was sidelined and also not because he made that one bold claim back on the show, but because he had made a serious callout.

“You all see Ashton Jeanty, but it is not like we haven’t seen a good running back that is good. We haven’t seen a player that has played both ways, and I’m going to keep saying that,” Hunter had mentioned. Ashton Jeanty has been on a wild run this year. Much like Cam Ward, this guy too has been a blessing but for the Broncos. 1200+ yards already in just 6 games, marking the highest this season. Jeanty ain’t someone you should take lightly.

While we still don’t know what Deion Sanders would do with Hunter for the Bearcats game, we do know one thing. There will be one WR who will be breaking the QB dominance over the Heisman, but will it be Hunter? That remains to be seen.
