Can Shedeur Sanders and Travis Hunter's bond withstand the pressures of NFL dreams and past tensions?

Well, there are no better players than the Buffs, who know how to have fun even in the most crucial times. When Deion Sanders’ Colorado landed the 20th rank in the playoffs rankings, QB Shedeur Sanders and dual-threat Travis Hunter were busy vibing to something else. The Buffs QB thought it to be the best time to pull Hunter’s leg, hinting at the dual-threat’s wedding bells to be ringing super soon with fiancée Leanna Lenee. Where are the Buffs haters? Time for them to scout for places to hide. After all, they were the ones who questioned Shedeur and Hunter’s bond after the two got into a heated argument in one of their pre-season practices. Their doubts almost came true when the Buffs’ dual threat got upset after Shedeur’s feat against Baylor.

Already the Buffs have started to transform haters into lovers after sitting third in the Big 12 with a 6-2 overall record. For instance, CFB analyst Ari Wasserman is all set to take back his words and is betting his life on Deion’s army: “I’ve been negative toward this program quite a bit in the past. But this is not the time to be negative…If Colorado makes the playoffs, I will die.” But looks like Shedeur has no time to pay heed to what the analyst says. He is already imagining himself in a tuxedo, ready to do honors on Hunter’s big day.

On the 2Legendary with Shedeur Sanders podcast, the Buffs QB left the two-way star startled with a question that came out of the blue, “When you ever ask me be your best man bro?” Well, even though Hunter got embarrassed, he tried to escape the whole conversation by flashing his signature ear-to-ear grin, “What?…No bro…you’re funny bro.” And then followed the best part of the convo that would surely melt your heart.

No matter how much they try to hide, both Shedeur and Hunter are now emotional, knowing that they will soon have to part ways and will no longer be fighting on the same side once they land in the NFL. But so what? Shedeur comes with a big promise: “It just matters on what team we all go to to just figure out you know the travel arrangements.” While Hunter and Lenee haven’t officially confirmed their wedding plans, it seems like at least the doubts about the Buffs’ star duo’s friendship have been put to rest.

How the 2023 narrative added to the strain between Shedeur Sanders and Travis Hunter

Deion Sanders along with the Buffs fans, always counts on Shedeur-Hunter as the dynamic duo. But maybe because of the frustration from the 2023 4-8 narrative and the immense pressure to do well in this season, it looked like cracks started to appear in their bond. For instance, before the 2024 season kicked off, on one occasion the Buffs were busy training. It was then Shedeur and Hunter got into a verbal scuffle.

The Buffs’ dual threat got frustrated when his highlight reel got hampered by Shedeur’s lagging speed, which made Hunter shout at Deion’s son, “I’m just going to keep running bro. You’re so slow.” Surprisingly, Shedeur too didn’t take it on a light note and came up with a sharp reply for the two-way phenomenon: “Just stop. I’m going to stop you keep drifting bro stop drifting…if we on the same page and I already know what the you going to do then just stop bro.” Unfortunately, things did not end there.

Can Shedeur Sanders and Travis Hunter's bond withstand the pressures of NFL dreams and past tensions?

Have an interesting take?

On September 21, when the Buffs faced off against Baylor Bears, Travis Hunter was caught on the sidelines, exploding with anger. The reason? Shedeur Sanders! It was found out that Hunter was waiting for him to pass the pigskin, but the QB thought of doing it himself, and the end result was a complete mess! Even earlier this year, rumors of tension between Shedeur and Hunter swirled after Hunter landed a spot on the EA Sports College Football 25 cover, while Shedeur was overlooked. But gone are those days. They’ve patched things up; after all, Shedeur wouldn’t be picturing himself as Hunter’s “best man” if they hadn’t.
