Shedeur Sanders silences critics—Is he the future star we've been waiting for in college football?

Shedeur Sanders had a lot of pressure entering Saturday’s game against CSU. He made himself a target to judge after his press conference speech following the Nebraska defeat when he blamed the O-line for not protecting him. The 22-year-old was hit several times and got sacked five times.

Not only this, but Shedeur Sanders and the Buffs didn’t receive a bright welcome from the CSU fan base at Canvas Stadium. Even the Rams’ QB in particular, didn’t start his meeting with the Buffs on a good note. Despite these distractions, the way the Buffs QB managed to stay focused throughout the game for a grand victory even had one of his critics eating his past opinions.

Fox Sports radio host Jason Fitz didn’t mind taking a slap on the face in his appearance on College Football Power Hour as posted by Rivals and Yahoo Sports on Instagram on September 17. Fitz admitted he had thrown Shedeur under the bus multiple times and that he understands the negativity that had entered him on game day. He then said, “For Shedeur to come out after just he was absolutely destroyed by so many people in the media and play a really focused, tight, accurate game, I thought it was a statement to who he can be as a quarterback.”

In the last Rocky Mountain Showdown, Shedeur Sanders led Colorado to a 28-9 victory over Colorado State. His athleticism shone on the field as he completed 36 of 49 passes to record 310 yards and four touchdowns. Every position played well and it culminated in a victory, one of the sweetest revenge that the Buffs can give to the provocative remarks from CSU.

The Rocky Mountain Showdown exposed the improvement of Colorado’s O-line. It was a different one from what we saw in Nebraska’s loss where they allowed six sacks compared to one sack against the Rams. The performance of the offensive line was visible right from the first half where the Buffs led 14-3 leading Deion Sanders to laud them on CBS Sports saying, “I’m so darn proud of the offensive line, the defensive line, and Buff Nation as well.”

Have an interesting take?

QB Brayden Fowler-Nicolosi not only taunted the Buffs verbally but also made a provocative “too small” gesture to Travis Hunter. But after crushing the Rams, Shedeur Sanders bluntly remarked, “They just asked for it.” Needless to say, this rivalry game came to a close on a tense note, but it’ll only be in 2029 that the teams will meet again for the next Rocky Mountain Showdown.
