You made the honorable sacrifice, but at what cost? Not only was the BYU game one of the worst performances by Shedeur Sanders, but it also put his draft dream in a pickle. 2 picks with only 16 passes landed. Not a good look for a guy who was called the “No.1 QB pick”, huh? “Everything about pregame I approve. Everything that happened during the game, I disapprove,” was all Cam Newton could say. And it is understandable why. For the top 4 teams in the Draft order, QB is the position they desperately need help with. Keeping Shedeur Sanders’ performance in mind, could it lead to the Giants not pushing for a pick on him?

“I don’t think Shedeur should have played in this game,” Mel Kiper Jr. announces on ESPN First Draft. If you have to get “insured” just to play in a game, then why not skip it altogether? Did the BYU game even have any positives? Going into it, we had already talked about how good the Cougars defense has been. They are leading the Big 12 in interceptions and rush coverage, and in the Alamo Bowl, they proved exactly why. You give Shedeur Sanders time in the pocket and that guy is going to pick your team apart surgically. BYU didn’t allow any of it.

H-ll even, Travis Hunter couldn’t do anything. The Buffs faithful did get to see the duo they loved, adored, and celebrated for the last two years. That’s a positive, you think? Coach Prime also got to see his sons walk onto the field for one last time. However, when it comes to Shedeur’s draft prospect, the game did more damage than good. Of course, that doesn’t mean the Buffs’ QB1 is, all of a sudden, a bad player. The prospect is still well and truly high. He and Cam Ward stand at the top of a, to put it bluntly, a mediocre QB class.

But coming back to the Giants scene; see, after releasing Daniel Jones, every NY fan knew that they were gonna go downhill. And well, that is exactly what happened. 3-13 record and also lost the No.1 pick spot by winning the Colts game. Wild. Who has the No. 1 pick now? Well, New England Patriots. Any chance Shedeur can land there? Not really! The Patriots drafted Drake Maye in 2024, and if they decide to utilize the pick, we may see Shedeur’s most effective weapon get the first pick.

What about the Giants? Well, they need a new quarterback, and Shedeur could very well be it, but then again, they’d probably have to trade up or down. Keeping the Bowl game in mind, Shedeur’s top 3 spots could tank. However, there still is one silver lining that Mel Kiper pointed out.

Shedeur Sanders’ Giants dream is still in play?

“Guess what? Who’s the 3rd quarterback? Ain’t nobody you’re excited about,” Kiper mentioned. If we move from Shedeur Sanders, who else do we have on the list? Cam Ward gets his 2nd spot with ease, but the 3rd, 4th, and 5th? Quinn Ewers, Jalen Milroe, and Carson Beck are debatable picks.

What’s your perspective on:

Did Shedeur Sanders' BYU game cost him the Giants' QB spot, or is there still hope?

Have an interesting take?

Beck comes in injured. Ewers has been a hit-or-miss quarterback. And Milroe? Well, he should’ve been a running back instead of a QB cause that guy can’t throw the football even if his life depended on it. Teams will desperately try to move up for Shedeur. Even if Shedeur remains in the No.1 spot despite the disastrous performance, the Giants will try to trade up to him. We even have the Cowboys’ dilemma in our hands as well.

Dak Prescott has been tragic and Mike McCarthy is adding fuel to the fire. Jerry Jones needs a QB and a head coach. If Paul Finebaum is all in for a Coach Prime x Shedeur move to Dallas, then what makes you think the fans won’t want it?
