Travis Hunter, Shedeur Sanders, Jimmy Horn Jr., and LaJohntay Wester – when these 4 names were revealed by CU, something felt off. After all, last time we checked, Deion Sanders had 2 sons playing for the Buffs. Much of the 2024 season can be chalked out as Shilo Sanders didn’t do enough and it is understandable why. That one injury sidetracked him, and following that up with underwhelming coverage in the gridiron can really tank your draft chances. Still, there was some hope: the East-West Shrine Bowl. 5 total tackles and an amazing third-down stop in the fourth quarter. But Shilo is not the one who will be depressed by his NFL combine snub. The Colorado safety has now decided to take his NFL fate into his own hands.

“I didn’t get invited to the combine, so they brought the combine to me,” these were Shilo’s words after the 25-year-old hired Zybek Sports to prepare him for the NFL draft. Because when the NFL scouts would be visiting college campuses, Shilo wants himself ready for the NFL. Shilo will be working with Zybek Sports at the Colorado University campus itself. While Shilo is confident about his NFL fate, his younger brother Shedeur, who has already made his cut to the NFL Scouting Combine, didn’t hold back from sharing a painful admission about his brother’s unexpected snub.

“It’s a bittersweet feeling because my brother’s not here,” Shedeur pointed out. Your big brother missing out on the NFL Combine invite is not something Shedeur was happy about. The snub was harsh, but as we said before, it was understandable. Still, that does not mean Shilo has stopped trying. Along with his amazing run at the East-West Shrine Bowl, Shilo managed to turn heads when Deion Sanders brought the Combine to Boulder.

“That was your best start ever, dude!” Buffs’ strength and conditioning coach Andreu Swasey remarks as Shilo dashes and wraps the 40-yard. While the official times weren’t posted, the reactions from the coaches were more than enough to solidify that he sure pulled a miracle.

Still, is this enough to be finally recognized and drafted into a team? Combing through all the Buffs’ games—especially the Jayhawks showdown, it is hard to acknowledge that Shilo is “NFL bound.”. He will probably get drafted, but by which team and on which round? God knows.

And while he deals with that struggle, Shedeur is out here fighting his own war after a recent comment left him labeled as “arrogant” and “brash.”

Back on the Shedeur Sanders “hate bandwagon”

Okay, you decided not to throw at the combine and go directly to the interviews. All good, but getting labeled as arrogant for this move? Sometimes, it feels like people intentionally start controversies around Shedeur to tank his stocks, and this recent antic makes us wonder if some GM (who probably wants to draft Shedeur) is using cheap tricks.

Or is there something else to this story? If you have been a part of the Buffs fanbase, you know that Coach Prime doesn’t want Shedeur to play for “certain” teams. “Coach Sanders has come out and said that there’re some teams that my son, and Travis [Hunter], that I don’t want them to go to,” Todd McShay points out.

What’s your perspective on:

Is Shilo Sanders being unfairly overlooked, or does he need to prove more on the field?

Have an interesting take?

This makes some sense—Deion deliberately forces the stock to drop to allow Shedeur to go to a better team. Regardless, this isn’t something worth the tin foil hats. A lot of “he said, she said,” and time will sort out the truth.

But as of now, a lot of people have come forward to support Shedeur. Eric Galko took to X to share: “People are entitled to their opinions on Shedeur, but in my experience, he’s a mature, wise, and prepared quarterback and leader who’s confidence and perspective may be unique to see and hear at first, but is what makes him a special person and future NFL quarterback.”

Even Shannon Sharpe pointed out, “Everything that this coach said was that he’s brash, and he’s arrogant. Can he play?” It is praiseworthy that he managed to average 75% completion behind an O-line that was next to nonexistent. We get that Shedeur has had his shenanigans, aka his attitude, after the Nebraska loss. However, to confine him into this “brash” and “arrogant” category is plain dumb.
