Well, the NFL Draft always brings the fireworks, but Shedeur Sanders just tossed a lit match into the pile. Look, normally, top quarterbacks roll into the Combine, zip a few passes, and watch their draft stock rise. But Shedeur? He’s doing his own thing, and let’s just say NFL scouts aren’t exactly buying it. Now it looks like Shedeur’s finally making amends for his bold steps, but his latest misstep of putting 30 teams’ futures at stake is only adding more fire to all the drama.

Now, we all know that instead of throwing at the NFL Combine, Shedeur is going to focus on team interviews and let his past performance do the rest of the work. But here’s the catch: interviews are not the only thing Shedeur is focusing on. Talking about his controversial move over his 2Legendary podcast, he said, “We want to be able — it’s a lot of factors that go into just waking up and throwing. Like, you don’t just roll out of bed and throw when there are different areas you want to fix and critique and get better at when it comes to having a showcase in front of the public.” That makes sense as we all know how Shilo Sanders couldn’t live up to the expectations of the NFL scouts in the Shrine Bowl either. Looks like Shedeur is observing and treading on the Combine ground very cautiously.

Moreover, if scouts want to see him throw, they should make a trip to Colorado for his Pro Day, where Shedeur Sanders will be playing alongside four of his team’s wide receivers who are also in the draft. He makes it clear by saying, “The date has always been for Pro Day, where, you know, we’ll have familiar faces, and we’ll be able to get work in. And then, it’s at home. So I’m really excited for that. I’d say the Pro Day, to be there — I want to focus more on interviews, on getting to meet these coaches and GMs and everybody.”

However, it’s not the first time a player has skipped the Combine. Remember Caleb Williams also took the same route? And the catch here is Caleb was the first overall pick by the Chicago Bears. We also have Jayden Daniels on the list, who was the second overall pick by the Washington Commanders, after Caleb. So, this shouldn’t be a big problem, right? But the only difference here is that Shedeur Sanders’ stocks are dipping.

We all know that Shedeur is among the players who have the chance to be the first overall pick in the pro league. But that’s just an old story now. Buffs’ star quarterback is now sitting at no. 22 overall according to a mock draft released by CBS Sports’ Tom Fornelli. So, is Shedeur making a big mistake not throwing at the Combine? For now, that’s not the case, as he got it all figured out.

Talking about his plan after the Combine, Shedeur Sanders said: “We have 30 visits. Yeah, after meeting with the teams.” That’s impressive, right? But there’s a twist.

Shedeur Sanders’ rookie mistake might cost him hard

Shedeur Sanders, whose NFL prospects are now and then being compared to Cam Ward, has taken things to the next level. He managed to misplace the phone containing all his scheduled 30 visits — the very phone that NFL teams have been using to contact him. As a result, not only is his draft status uncertain, but his reliability in answering calls is also being called into question.

What’s your perspective on:

Is Shedeur Sanders' decision to skip the Combine a bold move or a rookie mistake?

Have an interesting take?

Talking about it in the 2Legendary podcast, Shedeur said, “They have the number. They have — I think that phone, I don’t — I can’t find that phone in my house. I don’t know how, bro, but I don’t know where the phone is. I asked my mom five times to try to find it in the house. And when I was at the Shrine Bowl, they were like, ‘Yeah, we texted your number.’ I’m like, ‘Bro, I don’t even have that number anymore’.”

Quite messy. But despite losing the phone Shedeur shared that he has three top teams in his schedule, saying, Browns, Giants, Titans. I think those are the only three so far.” As the NFL Draft approaches, the Tennessee Titans are in need of a quarterback. But according to former NFL QB Cody Kessler, they should focus on Miami’s Cam Ward rather than Shedeur Sanders. Why? Ward is known for his strong arm and impressive off-platform throws, and most importantly, he has a new head coach in Brian Callahan, who has a reputation for developing quarterbacks into stars.

Look, the issue is that Cody Kessler strongly supports Cam Ward, and it’s not hard to see why. Ward’s arm talent is exceptional, with sidearm throws, deep passes under pressure, and scoring effortlessly with minimal movement. As Kessler noted, “There’s a throw in the bowl game where he’s standing flat-footed and just flicks it to the back of the end zone.” This certainly puts Shedeur’s chances to be an overall 1 pick at stake. Only time and good decisions will tell how Coach Prime‘s son’s NFL future would look.
