Ever since Deion Sanders took over in 2022, the Colorado Buffaloes have been in the national spotlight. But now, that spotlight is dimming—just a little—as two of CU’s biggest stars, Travis Hunter and Shedeur Sanders, gear up for the NFL. “From a Colorado perspective, I will just tell you, though, it is a bit of an end of an era with these two incredible players,” Joel Klatt said, summing up the feeling around Boulder right now. Still, Coach Prime isn’t slowing down.

Last week, he made a splash with a big-time announcement: Colorado will host its own Pro Day—completely separate from the Big 12 event. The showcase is set for April 4 inside the Buffs’ indoor practice facility. With NFL scouts expected to be there in full force, it’s shaping up to be another massive moment for CU football. And just like that, Pro Day has become the hottest headline in Boulder.

Then came a big update on March 25 from Andrew Groover, assistant manager at NFL Network. Both Travis Hunter and Shedeur Sanders are officially in for Colorado’s Pro Day. While neither worked out at the NFL Combine, this will be fans’ first real chance to watch them in action. And it gets even better—the entire thing will be broadcast live on NFL Network. With two top-tier prospects and cameras rolling, this Pro Day is shaping up to be a must-watch TV.

And it’s not just the NFL Network tuning in—ESPN is hopping aboard too. On Monday morning, ESPN announced that CU’s Pro Day is one of just six they’ll be covering this month. While the full event won’t air live, SportsCenter will be sending live reports straight from Boulder. Honestly, it’s no shock—especially since ESPN2 already locked in full coverage of CU’s Black & Gold spring game. With all eyes on the Buffs, it’s clear the cameras aren’t turning away anytime soon.

But make no mistake—this Pro Day isn’t just a workout. It’s a star-studded showcase. Travis Hunter will be front and center. He’s been called one of the most electrifying prospects in years, thanks to his ability to dominate as both a wide receiver and a cornerback. Some scouts worry that his two-way play might hurt his draft stock, while others are convinced it makes him a top-five lock.

Shedeur Sanders, meanwhile, has stirred up plenty of debate in scouting circles—but in a good way. While Miami’s Cam Ward is getting attention as a top QB, others see Shedeur as having major star potential. His accuracy, especially on short and mid-range throws, has impressed many. The only knock? Some scouts see him as overly confident. Still, the buzz is undeniable.

Will CU Buffs' Pro Day redefine college showcases, or is it just another media hype?

Have an interesting take?

According to Mel Kiper’s latest mock draft, Shedeur’s headed to the Giants at No. 3, with Hunter landing one spot later at No. 4 to the Patriots. But Todd McShay has other ideas—he projects Shedeur going second overall to the Browns, calling him a “prototypical [Kevin] Stefanski quarterback.”

That would shake things up. The Giants, still scrambling for a long-term QB solution, might pivot to Hunter instead. McShay floated an interesting idea: “I think that the Giants could lean in Hunter’s direction. They would need to make a decision on how to get the most out of him on both sides of the ba-l, but my guess is that he would play a bigger role on offense here than he would if picked by some other organizations.”

So, as the NFL Draft inches closer and two elite Buffs are in the spotlight, CU’s Pro Day has quickly become more than just a pre-draft pit stop—it’s a full-on media event. But beyond the speculation, something else is catching fire: where Shedeur Sanders might land. And the latest tea? It might’ve come straight from his dad.

Coach Prime might’ve dropped a hint at Shedeur Sanders’ destination

Deion Sanders took the stage last week as the keynote speaker at ProMat 2025 in Chicago. That’s when things started to get interesting. According to reports, Coach Prime may have dropped a clue about where he hopes his son ends up: “New York.”

But here’s where it gets fuzzy. The quote wasn’t caught on camera, and there’s no official transcript. The rumor appears to have started with a tweet from a guy named John Sokol, who said he was at the conference. From there, the internet did its thing—speculation spread like wildfire, and suddenly “New York” became the talk of the town. Did Deion really say it? And if so, which team was he talking about—the Giants or the Jets? There’s no clear answer. But the timing of it all is interesting.

What we do know is that Sanders was asked which team he thinks will draft Shedeur. Instead of answering directly, he replied, “Let’s hope it’s New York.” The Jets have the 7th pick, and Deion, well, he’s always going to hype his kid, so maybe he wasn’t really talking about the Jets. Most assume he meant the Giants. And honestly, that fit makes sense.

The Giants hold the No. 3 overall pick and are still looking for a franchise QB. Sure, they signed Jameis Winston in free agency and have shown interest in Aaron Rodgers, but it’s clear they’re still shopping for a long-term solution. If Shedeur is their guy, he’d be walking into one of the league’s biggest media markets—and a franchise desperate for a fresh face under center.

Still, there’s been no official confirmation from Deion. The fact that it took five days for the quote to gain traction raises questions. But even without a solid source, the Giants-Sanders connection has been building for a while. Giants GM Joe Schoen was spotted at multiple Colorado games last season, and the team reportedly met with Shedeur at the East-West Shrine Bowl in January.

So now we’re left with two intriguing possibilities: Shedeur to the Browns or Shedeur to the Giants.

In Cleveland, he could fit Stefanski’s system perfectly. But the Browns’ high-pressure environment might be a challenge for a young QB. On the flip side, New York brings a massive spotlight—and major expectations. Either way, for CU fans, it’s a bittersweet sendoff—watching two favs take the leap while the rest of the nation tunes in.
