Is Shannon Sharpe right to call out Deion Sanders, or is he just stirring the pot?

Yesterday was a bad day for Colorado fans. From being dominated by the Cornhuskers throughout the game to only recording 10 points on the scoreboard, it was just a long string of failures from the men in black and golden. Even the 2 stars of the team, Travis Hunter and Shedeur Sanders, couldn’t protect them from a mud-dragging performance, and now, even the closest friends of Deion Sanders are making sour faces after the game against Nebraska. Shannon Sharpe, a longtime friend, and supporter of Coach Prime, criticized the Colorado HC, which is a rare sight to witness.

On the 8th September episode of the ‘Nightcap’ show, both Sharpe and Chad Johnson sat down to react to the Cornhuskers’ cakewalk over the Colorado Buffaloes. Both of them discussed the flaws in the team’s performance and had important words of advice for Deion ahead of their next week’s game against CSU.

During one of the segments, Sharpe said, “When you look at Colorado and I need you to be objective because I know a lot of us in the chat, we want coach Prime to do well.Johnson spoke in length about the talent in Colorado, which is not being utilized in full, and made comments about the offensive line by saying, “I mean, they have the tools, they have the talent at the skill position, but where it matters most in college, the offensive line. If you can’t stop the run, it starts up front, if you can’t protect your quarterback, it starts up front. The skill position is where the money is and now we have that.

It seems like even Deion was in agreement with what Johnson had to say about the poor O-line as he talked about it in detail during the post-game media conference.

Deion Sanders talks about the faulty O-line yet again

Back in 2023, when Shedeur was sacked a record number of 52 times, Deion Sanders was heard saying how the team needed a better O-line. A year after their 4-8 season and a wholly new revamped squad, Deion is still choosing to go with the same answer rather than acknowledge the poor ability of Shedeur to hold on to the ball for too long. Colorado couldn’t move past the Nebraska defense at all and barely made any successful catches either, which raises serious questions about Coach Prime and his strategies for the upcoming games.

Deion Sanders first talked about the first game against the Bisons and praised the team’s protection, then further added, “We hadn’t run the ball like we wanted to consistently. But very rarely do you have a great running offense and a great passing offense. Rarely you have that. One is going to have to be the lesser of the two. We have to figure out a way to have some type of a running game because we have backs who can flat out do it, we really do. I like what I saw out of those guys as well.

Thus, Deion Sanders seems to be quite disappointed with his players as well, and while he’s assuring the fans of a different outcome next week, it’s a promise that the Buffs’ community has known and seen too often from the mouth of Coach Prime.
