Recruiting suspense continues to brew as National Signing Day is just two weeks away. There are talks that Billy Napier and the Florida Gators are in a good position to land their first 5-star commit for the 2025 class. And the player in question is 5-star Dallas Wilson, who has been committed to Oregon for nearly two years now. Can the Gators do what seems to be impossible by flipping his commitment from Dan Lanning? Given the developments so far, it could be a realistic scenario.
Gatorsonline.com senior writer Corey Bender joined Josh Newberg in a new YouTube episode on On3 Recruits on November 18 to give Florida fans a ray of sunshine. Talking about Dallas Wilson, who was present at the Florida Gators vs. LSU Tigers game, he said, “Last night, speaking to Gatorsonline, his neighbor, he said he thinks Florida has a better shot at flipping him than Miami does. On top of that, he set an official visit for next weekend.”

Dallas Wilson is rated as the No. 3 WR in the 2025 class from Tampa, FL. His Florida background plays a role in his leaning toward the Gators, but it’s the unexpected 27-16 victory over LSU that won his interest. The 6’3, 205-pounder visited the game to watch Florida play “as a team,” but he was treated with a much better treat.
Following the big win, Dallas Wilson told Swamp247, “It was electric. I got here a little late, so it was 7-0. Florida was up. They pulled out the win. It was back to back touchdowns, and it was crazy out there. Oh my God. Touchdown after touchdown, fireworks going off every second. The crowd is outstandingly loud. It was the difference.” But Gators fans, don’t get carried away too soon, for Oregon is still very much in the mix.

The Florida Gators have elite competitors to watch out for in their pursuit of Dallas Wilson, including the Miami Hurricanes. Despite his pledge to Oregon, the No. 20 overall prospect showed interest in Mario Cristobal’s program by wearing Miami cleats and gloves in his high school football game back in September. But after his Florida game attendance, he announced, “I’m actually taking an official visit to Florida next weekend. Yesterday I said Miami and Florida were a close second to Oregon. But now I think Florida is pulling ahead.”
A great piece of information for Gators, who enticed other prospects with the latest win. Still, No. 1 Oregon remains the unbeatable leader as of now, as they dominated the season 11-0. Wilson stated, “Nothing has changed with Oregon. They are still the school to hold it down with me and be there for me. Florida has my interest though because I love how they have faith in their guys.”
