Is Carson Beck's drop justified, or are we overreacting to one close game?

Picking up only 160 passing yards on 15 out of 24 passes, Carson Beck struggled on Saturday, September 14, against Kentucky. However, Georgia won the game by 1 point to what we call an inferior Kentucky team. Analysts and fans had already anticipated Carson Beck’s drop in the rankings. “Kentucky leading Georgia heading into the 4th quarter is wild” kind of comments were all over the place after the game. Besides, Jordan Rodgers highlighted how Georgia’s play last week impacted their QB’s SEC rankings.

The college football analyst didn’t mince words and shared that Arch Manning can replace Carson Beck’s top ten positions in the upcoming days. Added to that, he started talking about the ranking, saying, “Quinn Ewers at number one before he got hurt. He was 1416, 185 yards using complete command.” The Texas Longhorns starting quarterback was going great in the season when an unfortunate event occurred: he got injured. However, Arch took his place and helped his team win the game. But these rankings reflect Ewers’s performance before he got injured, so it’s quite acceptable why he’s in the top position. Going into week 4, we have Jaxson Dart at no. 2 and Nico Iamaleava at No. 3. However, Beck’s ranking was the main topic for Rodgers.

Rodgers added, “Carson Beck’s at number five. This album got to figure it out. They don’t have enough playmakers. He made some mistakes. The opposite line got handled. it’s more to do so with that and what other guys did.; the reason he has that five, I think, still be one of the best in the country.”

No one doubts Beck’s talent, but, at the end of the day, QBs usually end up taking the blame if their offense doesn’t perform well. We have already seen some of that with Calen Milroe in Week 2. Shedeur was criticized when the Buffs lost to Nebraska.

Will Carson Beck return to the game against Alabama after facing an injury??

Georgia’s narrow won probably covered some cracks. All hell would have broken loose had they lost the game. National Championship contenders losing to Kentucky? Just Imagine! Georgia’s rushing game and managed only 102 yards. Beck could not stand still against Kentucky’s defense, which resulted in a limited offensive output for Georgia. This spread concern over Georgia’s upcoming matchup against Alabama.

Have an interesting take?

Even though Carson Beck suffered an injury towards the end of the game against Kentucky, he is expected to play in the game against Alabama in week 5 on September 28. Beck is sustaining a sprained AC joint on his left shoulder while faking a handoff. He ran left and landed on his left shoulder. However, he assured his fans of his return by saying, “I’ll be fine; thank God we’ve got a bye week,” after last Saturday’s victory.

Other than that, the Bulldogs’ offensive guard, Tate Ratledge, is not in the same spot as Beck. He had tightrope surgery for a high ankle sprain and will take time to recover. He might not return till November. Moreover, Ratledge also injured his left knee during the game against Kentucky. Besides, Georgia has a bye week before playing against No. 4 Alabama Crimson Tide on September 28 in Tuscaloosa.
