There’s a chance that the SEC is going to see 3-loss teams contending for the conference title if Texas gets their 4-1 SEC record stained. Right now, Steve Sarkisian and the Longhorns are favored to win the SEC with a +110 chance as per Fox Sports. But it could turn into a very different scenario where all except one of the top seven SEC teams are tied.
A peek into the projected SEC game results favors Texas A&M as the winner of the SEC with a projected 7-1 record, with LSU trailing with 6-2. Mike Rodak reported on X on November 13, “An SEC championship game between No. 15 Texas A&M and No. 22 LSU remains a plausible scenario right now given tiebreakers, which would throw a fun little wrench in the current CFP rankings.”

Right now, Steve Sarkisian and the Longhorns are 5th with a 0.375 winning percentage. They’re 8-1 overall and 4-1 in the SEC, joining Texas A&M and Tennessee as one of the three one-loss teams so far. But they still have three more opponents on their 2024 schedule, with the last one being the final SEC showdown with Texas A&M. Can they prove the projection wrong?
Steve Sarkisian and Texas receive continuous hype
Texas stands behind Tennessee and Texas A&M, who tie at 5-1 in the SEC. According to several predictions, the Longhorns are heavily favored in their next two games against Arkansas and Kentucky. As for the Aggies, the projected SEC winners of 2024, who are also winning off the field, should beat New Mexico State and Auburn if they want to live up to their projection to face Texas in the final SEC championship clash.

Another good hype for Texas is that the College Football Playoff committee favors the Longhorns. They’re ranked third and seeded second in the latest 12-team playoff projection. This means that the CFP committee believes that Texas will win the SEC and secure a first-round bye in the postseason.
