Is Adam Breneman's snub of Ohio State justified, or is there a clear bias at play?

Does Adam Breneman have an SEC bias? Or a bias against Ohio State in particular? After all, this isn’t the first time the Big Ten program has felt left out by the ESPN analyst. Earlier in October, he chose Indiana over Ryan Day‘s Buckeyes as the favorite to enter the College Football Playoffs. He named the Hoosiers the “biggest mover” of the week after their 56-7 win over Nebraska on October 19. Now, another “biggest mover” is here but it’s Billy Napier who got the credit.

Adam Breneman released his list of the “Top performing teams from Week 12” on Instagram on November 21. In his list of seven top teams, the Florida Gators topped followed by Kansas, Georgia, Arizona State, Colorado, New Mexico, and Tulane. Unsurprisingly, Ohio State didn’t make it to the list.

Ryan Day and Ohio State still have one of the best rosters in the CFB and their last game showed it. In their victory over Northwestern at Wrigley Field, the Buckeyes showed their dominance by scoring 31 straight points to seal the final record at 31-7 on Saturday. But somehow, their performance wasn’t deemed worthy to enter the analyst’s list.

Adam Breneman had predicted before, “This is an Indiana team that is legit, and their offense is the one that’s in the country. It’s looking pretty real that Indiana could travel to Columbus, Ohio, at 10-0 to go play Ohio State College; that will be a legendary matchup.” This “legendary matchup” will happen on Saturday on November 23. 9-1 Ohio State will continue their push for a spot in the Big Ten Championship game against No. 1 Oregon in their upcoming clash against undefeated Indiana (10-0). But perhaps, for this week, we’ll give the deserving credit to Billy Napier and Florida.

Florida Gators shoots in an upward ranking

There’s no denying that the Florida Gators played one of the best games in Week 12 against LSU. They delivered a huge 27-16 upset to the then No. 22 LSU inside Ben Hill Griffin Stadium. This not only improved their record to 5-5 but also impacted their rankings drastically across several polls.

Have an interesting take?

Before Week 12, Billy Napier’s team ranked at No. 54 in author Chris Vannini’s rankings. But they jumped 11 spots to No. 43 following the huge win. That’s not all. USA TODAY Sports also re-ranked the Gators by pushing them 14 spots ahead to No. 43 in Week 13. Can they improve their rankings with their last home game against Ole Miss and a final road game against Florida State to close out the regular season?
