The big day is just around the corner for Travis Hunter. After a spectacular 2024 season, Travis Hunter’s game has him amongst the draft’s top 5 picks all the way till now. But the Heisman Trophy winner did not get to where he is easily. He’s been patient and worked hard to be among the draft’s most elite prospects. And with him, his family has also given their everything to fuel his dreams.
Travis is unanimously projected to go to Cleveland as the No. 2 overall pick. “Cleveland is going to take him. He’s going to major on offense and minor on defense,” insider Daniel Jeremiah announced in his podcast. He not only has a Heisman to parade around – Hunter is the only CFB player in history to win both Chuck Bednarik and Fred Biletnikoff Awards. In fact, he still holds onto his 5-star rating as a player and transfer even after walking out of this phase of life. But as he steps into the most important one, Mom Ferrante Edmonds made it clear that a lot of hurdles had to be overcome behind the scenes to produce what Travis Hunter is known for today.
She took to Instagram and wrote, “They saw the highlight reels. I saw the hospital runs, the prayers, the tears, the grind, the growth. This ain’t just a football dream – it’s a faith walk. #GodDid #MamaBuiltThis #FaithGotUsHere #HeismanMama.” Hunter once took a serious blow in his 2023 season from CSU DB Henry Blackburn. The injury was such that a cracked rib ended up lacerating his liver, which kept him out for three weeks. And he returned a fighter. In his comeback game against Stanford, Hunter hauled in a season-high record of 13 receptions for 140 yards and also scored a TD.

When you look at Travis Hunter’s mind-boggling resume, it only gives you a gist of the heaps of work he has put in his career. He plays on both sides of the ball, which brings his season snaps total to 1,443, according to PFF. That makes his snaps per game double that of Jayden Daniels, winner of the 2023 Heisman Trophy. And the best part is, he’s “definitely not tired,” after playing both offense and defense throughout the entirety of his career, wrote the Washington State Journal. It’s no wonder that Travis Hunter will be going into the draft as one of the top prospects this year.

Travis Hunter will be entering a “royal” week in the draft
Edmonds shared another message that sets the stage for his grand arrival to the draft. “This week isn’t ain’t just regular. It’s royal. It’s historic. It’s prophetic. My son’s not just stepping into the draft – he’s stepping into destiny. #DraftWeek #KingMoves #CoveredByGrace,” she wrote. And it’s true; Travis Hunter is a VVIP in this draft, and there are no rebuttals to this claim.
On April 2020, Travis shared a picture on his Instagram, where he smiles brightly surrounded by all his awards. “GENERATIONAL,” he wrote in the caption, establishing his value as one of the most elite players in college football and of recent years, period. He’s even holding on to hopes of playing on both sides of the ball in the NFL, too. “They say nobody has ever done it for real, the way that I do it. But I tell them I’m just different, I’m a different person. I know I can do it.” Hunter said at the Combine.
