Saudi PIF and CU Buffs—Is this the future of college football or a disaster waiting to happen?

The ability of Deion Sanders to be consistently involved in real-time drama is always surprising. Coach Prime has always been a standout in the world of College Football, but this time the fans are really giving him a run for his money. He not only loves expensive brands and glasses but also explosive deals. With the coming College Football season, the focus is not on teams winning probability and practice but more on the deals and funds.

Deion Sanders and his Buffaloes staff Reilly have reportedly approached the Saudi Arabia Public Investment Fund for the team’s NIL funding. Well, isn’t it common to get money for the team, but then why do fans feel this is a crazy move? Well, the problem is it’s outside the boundaries of America and fans find it an unnecessary move. After reading @RossDellenger tweet on the same saying A former Colorado assistant coach Reilly while spending time in the Middle East holiday season tried getting Saudi Arabia’s PIF for NIL funding on behalf of the Buffs”. After reading this tweet a fan took his X and writes “Damn, nobody wants to back Colorado’s NIL so they felt the need to go beg Saudis for oil money”. Well, seems kind of dreamy as there are just rumors yet to get confirmed.

As Reilly resigned from his position as assistant coach on August 1, he said he tried on his own to get the investors. “I did nothing illegal and was trying to help Colorado the best way I knew how.” Even though it does sound crazy, the deal could take Colorado Buffaloes ahead of time. The amount could exceed one trillion dollars in value. That number could really take Deion Sanders and the team’s value to another height without a doubt. As they will not be the only ones getting funded by the Arabic PIL, as they are also the lead donors for LIV Golf and Formula One. Everything has its own pros and cons. As of now, the Buffs’ fans don’t seem happy.

Does Deion Sanders really deserve this hate?

A fan took a dig at Deion Sanders’ ambition to give the Buffs an elite status in College Football saying “Colorado is trying to become the Mecca of college football. Literally!” Well, this could be a possibility, why not? NIL valuation has an impact on the teams in bigger runs. Taking the hate notion ahead, a fan said “It’s impossible to like Colorado.” This seems like coming from a lack of understanding about Coach Prime’s approach.

Have an interesting take?

One fan actually kept it pretty harsh on Deion Sanders saying “Further proof Sanders can’t coach.  All he can hope to do is buy players that might win games for him.  He’s a complete fraud. Maybe he will try China next.” But getting players like Jordan Seaton, a five-star offensive tackle is not a joke. The fan managed to keep it slightly less bitter and 100% more sarcastic “Shedeur, get ready to learn Desert Storm buddy.” However, we don’t know if it’s really going to be that tough on the team, but then this rumor has once again given Coach Prime all kinds of headlines.
