Turn the spotlight on Ryan Day’s son! When RJ Day first stepped onto the field at St. Francis DeSales High School, the weight of his last name followed him. However, it was obvious that he was carving a name for himself. Back in August 2023, he landed his first Division I offer as a freshman QB.
The offer came from Boston College’s Jeff Hafley, a former Ohio State co-defensive coordinator who knows the family well. Fast forward to March 2025, and RJ has picked up a new offer, with more schools showing interest by the day.
The latest to enter the recruitment trail for RJ Day is Bowling Green, as reported by Steve Wiltfong on On3. Former Ohio State Heisman Trophy winner Eddie George is in his first season as HC after a stint at Tennessee State. And he knows talent when he sees it. On March 29, the 6’1, 203-pound HS star announced his latest offer from the Falcons. “Coach George is first class,” RJ said.

Bowling Green is the eighth offer that RJ Day received. The other seven programs include Boston College, Akron, Miami (Ohio), Eastern Michigan, Kent State, Marshall, and Toledo. Meanwhile, multiple programs have also taken notice including UCLA, Purdue, Northwestern, Cincinnati, and Iowa State. The young QB expressed his admiration for these schools saying, “They were all great places. I made a great connection with Coach Campbell and Coach Waters from (Iowa State). Me and my parents really like that staff and place a lot.”
Interestingly, RJ Day’s story is a rapid rise for a player whose football journey wasn’t always a certainty. “Growing up, I wasn’t sure if he’d like football or not,” Ryan Day admitted in 2024. “There was a point where I didn’t think he had any chance of being an athlete. We actually have some videos of it. We laugh with the girls about it. But he’s embraced it, and he just loves it. It’s his life.”
Indeed, he’s already making history at his high school. As a sophomore, he threw for 1,425 yards and 14 TDs to become the school’s all-time leading passer. That performance brought his career totals to 2,993 yards and earned him Second-Team All-District honors. And while RJ navigates through his recruitment journey, his father is making waves of his own.

Ryan Day dominates the 2026 recruiting
Ohio State’s 2026 recruiting class is shaping up to be one of the best in the country. They’re currently ranked 6th nationally and 3rd in the Big Ten. The Buckeyes added a huge piece on March 25 with the commitment of 4-star OT Sam Greer from Akron. Ranked as the No. 4 player in Ohio, he chose the Buckeyes over programs like Michigan, Tennessee, Penn State, Auburn, and Florida.
Moreover, Greer chose an elite group that already includes 5-star WR Chris Henry Jr., 4-star talents IOL Max Riley, ATH Jakob Weatherspoon, and WR Jaeden Ricketts. As RJ Day continues to rack up offers and prove himself as a top QB prospect, his father continues to shape Ohio State’s future. Whether their paths eventually converge in Columbus remains to be seen. But both Days are making plenty of noise in college football.
