Can Michigan's underdog spirit topple Ohio State's national title dreams this season?

No. 2 Ohio State Buckeyes have proved again that they are a true national title contender. Ryan Day must be so proud of his team; they definitely lived to the expectations of a highly anticipated game and defeated Indiana 38-15 in week 13. But can the upcoming game put them in hot water?

Now, after dominating Indiana football, the Buckeyes will play against their archrival, the Michigan Wolverines. The defending champions had a disappointing season, 6-5, and now they will face the Buckeyes next week. However, it doesn’t appear like the Wolverines have a whole lot to lose. On the other hand, Ohio State is maintaining 10-1 and is a clear contender in the national title race. Given the consistency that they have displayed throughout the entire season, the upcoming matchup against Michigan is rather crucial.

On November 24, David Pollack, a football analyst, highlighted the importance of the Buckeyes’ next matchup on his YouTube channel. “I think circumstances more than ever are going to matter, and people are going to have to start paying attention to circumstances, and when I say that, you know, the Texas look ahead. You know, A&M looks ahead to Texas at Auburn. Nothing to lose those types of things next week. Michigan, by the way, is going to be in a position with nothing to lose next week against Ohio State. Everything to gain a lot of pressure on Ohio State. “

Finally, this week, Michigan’s offense looked stronger, and this can be the biggest problem for Ryan Day and his team. Kalel Mullings started for them and displayed an impressive performance when no one expected it. He rushed for 92 yards and scored a career-high three touchdowns. Moore understands the importance of this victory, as it will ensure their postseason spot.

Additionally, Defensive back Aamir Hall made a diving interception on Northwestern’s opening drive, which brought an advantage for the Wolverines. Mullins did not waste much time and capitalized with a 2-yard touchdown run, which was his first for the day. Davis Warren took the game further and threw a 3-yard touchdown pass to Colston Loveland. Donovan Edwards and Tavierre Dunlap ended the game with a 20-yard touchdown run. Moreover, their passing game appears to be on point too. Is it enough to upset Ohio State though?

Moving on, the rivalry between the two programs started in 1897, and since 1935, the committee has made sure that football fans can witness the clash mostly at the end of the regular season. Last season Michigan was ranked first and Ohio State was at No. 3 in all-time wins in NCAA Division I football history. Their rivalry has gained significant national attention and we are sure coming Saturday is going to be a big day for both programs.

Although last season Michigan was leading, the tables have turned, and in 2024, the Buckeyes are heavily favored. Hold no! Does that mean Michigan will hand over the victory very easily? It doesn’t appear so, as they are going to enter the game with a dominating 50-6 victory against NU. But let’s not underestimate Ohio State as well.

Quarterback Will Howard stood up and displayed some impressive performance and led his team to a 38-15 victory. He passed for two touchdowns and rushed for another.

Later in the first half, James Evans, Hoosiers punter, fumbled a snap, which gave the Buckeyes an advantage.
