It’s been a while since we talked about Notre Dame, right? These guys are on the 6th spot in the CFP list, and their season has been nothing but amazing. After that one loss to Northern IL, Notre Dame got back up and decimated every single opponent. You gotta hand it to Marcus Freeman. This man has created a monster of offense and defense, and at the center of it all is his star QB Riley Leonard. While you can argue that the average of 1700+ yards with 4 interceptions does not look good when you compare it with star QBs like Shedeur Sanders or Cam Ward, you also gotta keep in mind that he has been doing some solid playmaking for Notre Dame.
And in just a few minutes, the Irish will be going up against their 1946-era rivals, but before that happens and Army hits the turf, Leonard has one subtle warning. Back on ‘X’, Tyler Horka shared what the Fighting Irish QB had to say about Notre Dame’s offense. “When that ball is snapped, you never know what you’re gonna get,” Leonard had mentioned. See, Freema and his boys on the D-line are standing on the No.3 spot in the entire country in terms of scoring defense. It is “organized chaos” as per Leonard.

Notre Dame has the nation’s No. 3 defense in scoring and No. 4 defense in terms of yards per play.

That ain’t all. When it comes to yards per play, the Fighting Irish defense is No.4 in the country. In literally all of their 10 games, they have barely allowed anyone to cross past the 20-point mark.
And their offense has been equally good. These guys are averaging at least 30 points in every game, the only exception being the Northern IL showdown where Notre Dame went for 14 points. Going into this game, Freeman and Co. are the crowd’s favorites.
See, back in 1946, the Irish vs the Army was coined as the “greatest game of the century”. Both teams were undefeated going into that showdown, but Army was on a 25-win streak. Can you guess who won? NO ONE. The game ended with a 0-0 tie. Nothing like that has ever been recreated since, but here we are again. So, will history repeat itself or will one of the team cause an upset?

Notre Dame Fighting Irish vs Army Black Knights
The Army doesn’t have the best reputation going into this. While they are 9-0, it is completely off of a schedule that feels like child play. A few days back, Joe DeLeone was strict with his prediction for the Fighting Irish vs Army game. “The Army has not played anybody that’s presenting them with any real challenge,” DeLeone mentioned.
Now, could this mean an automatic win for Freeman? Not really. This entire season, the Army has only given away the football 4 times. They are the best in the country when it comes down to protecting the football and this could cause problems for Freeman.

While the defense is good for Notre Dame, it does not mean their offense is great. If Freeman goes into this showdown thinking “Oh we will run the football” then they will be stopped dead in their tracks. Army ain’t gonna give away possession so easily and this alone will become the deciding factor of this entire rivalry.
