Antonio Pierce's presence at USC vs. LSU—Is he scouting future Raiders stars or just adding pressure?

Well, well, who do we have here? A troll vs “the worst coaching job”. That’s right folks, Brain Kelly, infamous for trying to troll Lane Kiffin regarding the Coke bottle, is going up against Lincoln Riley, who probably had the worst run back in 2022 and 2023 as HC. As the Tigers take the field against the Trojans, we find an unexpected guest tuning in to watch the match.

Antonio Morales took to X on September 2nd to let us know that Raiders HC Antonio Pierce is going to check out the game as well. “Raiders coach Antonio Pierce checking out the game tonight as well,” Morales mentioned in his caption. There is some hidden agenda behind Pierce’s visit. The NFL drafts are almost here and the HC definitely needs some new talent on his team. As the season approaches for the Raiders, Pierce has noted that his team is all set to hit the game hard. With the overall physical condition and mental strength looking quite strong, “we’ll be about as healthy as you could be for a team going into week 1,” Pierce had stated during an interview while talking about his team’s overall condition.

However, that is not going to stop the HC from picking out more talents for his team, and what could be better than the LSU and USC rivalry? The Tigers have faced off against the Trojans twice. Once in 1979 and next in 1984. On the first meet, the Trojans took the crown, and the Tigers managed to grab the win when they met again in 1984. Standing on a 1-1 rivalry, this season will decide who comes out on top and the Trojans winning this feels like a distant dream.

USC stands no chance

We all know at this point that Lincoln Riley has had a tough time after taking over the Trojans. While his first year as HC was solid, everything fell apart from the next seasons. The main aspect that still raises concerns is the defense. The Trojans have continued to suffer with their defense. They managed to rank 94th in terms of scoring defense back in 2022 and then, following that, they ranked 121st during the 2023 season.

If that wasn’t enough. Miller Moss, the leading QB for the Trojans, is yet to prove his potential. The kid has only played 12 games, in which he has managed to bring in 9 TDs and a completion rate of 71%. This is not enough. The offensive line is also a mess because the Trojans lost most of their starts like Caleb Williams, MarShawn Lloyd, Tahj Washington and many more to the NFL draft. This makes the O-line extremely weak. Altogether, this should be an easy win for Kelly. However, anything can happen out on that field.
