Is Quinn Ewers' injury a blessing in disguise for Nebraska with Arch Manning stepping in?

Just like Mario has Luigi, Longhorns QB, Quinn Ewers also has someone who has his back. The Longhorns and UTSA game was rough. With the 2024 season starting with a blast for Steve Sarkisian, the boys have managed to dominate every game with Quinn Ewers leading the charge. However, against the Roadrunners, Ewers unfortunately sustained injuries which made Sark pull him off the field. From what we saw, Ewers had reportedly sustained a non-contact oblique strain during the 2nd quarter of the game. During an interview, Sarkisian mentioned that the injury happened when Ewers tried to slip a throw to TE Gunnar Helm. So, should Texas fans worry about this ruining the team’s solid run in the 2024 season?

Heck no, cause Arch Manning is here, boys. Rivals took to their Instagram on September 17th to talk about how Longhorns still got a chance to grab that national championship even if Ewers isn’t there. “Even without Quinn Ewers, Texas can still win a national championship,” Caroline Fenton mentioned. While the mullet king had to leave the field because of his injury, QB Arch Manning was called up to replace him, and boy oh boy, did he impress. The very first play after hitting the gridiron was a touchdown. If that wasn’t enough, Manning showed pure domination during the game with a total of 4 TDs and 9-12 passes. “We are talking about a guy who hasn’t played a lot of college football. He is incredibly inexperienced but doesn’t look like it,” Fenton mentioned. Calling Arch inexperienced isn’t fair. This guy comes from a family that has had players like Eli Manning and Peyton Manning. Arch knows what it takes to be the best and he will get it done.

As Ewers’ return remains questionable, Sarkisian has shown pure confidence in Manning’s capability of carrying the helm and keeping the team’s amazing run intact. “Arch is just another guy on our team, and the reason I’m able to do that is because that’s who Arch is every day. He’s the selfless teammate,” Sarkisian mentioned during an interview. However, it does raise some other questions. While it is true that Manning was able to maintain a solid momentum against the Roadrunners, can he do the same when the Longhorns go up against the Huskers?

Can Arch Manning keep the Texas spirit alive?

It took the Longhorns 16 whole years to reach the top spot on the AP polls. Pushing the Dawgs down to the 2nd spot, Sarkisian and his boys stand to stall with 1540 points. Ewers did lead the team to 2 back-to-back wins, but it was Arch Manning who sealed the deal. However, will Manning be able to pull the same tricks when he’s against Huskers QB Dylan Raiola? Raiola has time and time again proved that he ain’t no freshman. The Colorado Buffs game is the biggest indicator of what this guy is capable of. Paired up with Dante Dowdell, Raiola has a solid command over the gridiron.

Have an interesting take?

Also standing 3-0 for the 2024 season, the Huskers will not make it easy for Sarkisian and Manning. The offensive line is a menace and quite good at locking down the QB. We saw how they managed to sack and keep pressure on Shedeur Sanders and pushed the Buffs to negative rushing yards during the first 2 quarters of the game. Now you might argue that Buffs have a considerably weaker O-line when compared to a giant like Longhorns. Quite true. However, you still cannot undermine the potential the Huskers have. Things will not be easy for Arch Manning, but as Fenton had mentioned; “Texas is still in good hands and that’s scary.”
