The Texas Longhorns are coming off quite strong this season with five consecutive wins. In their last game against the MS State, the team secured a high-margin win of 35-13. Now the team is facing Oklahoma in their today’s showdown. But it turns out that the highlight of the game is not their game but Texas star quarterback Quinn Ewers‘ return to the game, sparking a comparison between him and Arch Manning. Let’s see what the fuss is all about.
Well, Ewers was rusty in a couple of plays with interceptions, which made the journalists feel that Manning would have already made a difference within 5 minutes in the first quarter. In line with the same thought, Brandon Walker wrote, “Put Arch in. Could be 14-0.” Another analyst named Aaron Murray chimed in and said, “Ewers slow those feet down!” On Texas’ first possession, Quinn Ewers was sacked, and then he threw an interception to Oklahoma’s Billy Bowman, which was not expected from him, given the fact that he has been consistently compared with Arch Manning this season.

Talking about their gameplay in the ongoing season, Quinn Ewers completed 691 passing yards with eight touchdowns and had two interceptions. Before he was sidelined after suffering an abdominal injury against UTSA. Well, these are the stats of just two games he plays; isn’t it surprising?
However, even freshman quarterback Arch Manning showed promising gameplay by completing 55 out of 78 passes, with a 70.5% completion rate, running for 901 passing yards and nine passing touchdowns. He even added 82 rushing yards and three rushing touchdowns and threw two interceptions. For now, it’s hard to pick one looking at their remarkable gameplay; the same is the case with Longhorns head coach Steve Sarkisian.

Have an interesting take?
Well, even if there is still a debate going on between Quinn Ewers and Arch Manning on who has better gameplay, their head coach Steve Sarkisian has already put an end to it. Today, during a conversation in an ESPN college football episode, Sarkisian talked about how he finds both of them truly extraordinary in terms of their performance, saying, “Well, I think it speaks volumes to the character of both young men. Both of these guys work extremely hard. They both understand and respect what the other guys are doing and his development, and both are kind of at different stages.”
Both players are skilled in terms of their hold in the game, and it’s been a never-ending discussion about who is better between them. But the point to look at here is that even after not playing for two consecutive games, Quinn Ewers is on almost every analyst Heisman trophy list with +2000 odds. This surely explains a lot of things. However, for now, let’s see if Quinn Ewers’ return to the game can make any difference or if it will be a rough day for him. Till then, keep supporting your favorite team!
