Texas Longhorns fans are waiting with bated hearts to see the new Texas QB1, Arch Manning, under the center. Even if he is an unproven talent at the starting gig, the Manning family blueblood is giving every reason to hold the card high about his potential at Austin. Just the opposite reality prevails on the other side of the story. Quinn Ewers continues to receive flak and doubts amidst the growing uncertainty about his controversial NFL move. Even though Quinn had a decent showdown at the NFL combine, analysts don’t see him in the first round of the post-combine mock draft. Can he flip the script from here? The answer is yes. The silent ace in the hole is Texas Pro Day.

Ewers’ NFL decision was not taken without a pinch of salt from day 1 of his official announcement. Experts are saying the Texas prodigy should have opted for another year in college to fix his eroded status before jumping to the pros. Well, they are not wrong. Ewers had a mixed-bag season in Texas. Falling victim to two back-to-back injuries in one season, his performance has been highly devalued.

The visible slump in his throws, the sluggish decision-making, and the impromptu errors on the field during that gut-wrenching SEC Championship loss against Georgia all put a big question mark on his NFL readiness. Even in the dying moments of the semifinal against the Buckeyes, Ewers had a horrible sack-fumble turnover that gifted the game to Ohio State. The safe damage control would be his resilience against the injuries, but still, pros will be pros, barring any other excuses.

Quinn knows it the best and, hence, put on his best during the NFL Combine last week, arguably improving his stock to some extent. His live arm, quick release, multiple arm angles, ability to throw on the run, and first down with a scramble were all spot on to impress any scout present there, but can they still ignore his ruthless year at Texas? The huge inconsistencies that made room for the elite defenses to roar high against the Longhorns during a few games?

That is a question that needs deep evaluation. But never mind, even if the answer is no. It’s not the end of the world for the veteran Texas QB. He still has the pro day to prove his worth further. Insider Bobby Burton said, ”If a GM steps in and watches him, they are going to be impressed. I have watched a lot of guys throw, and there’s an ease the way the ball comes out of his hand.”

Texas will host the Pro Day on March 25th. The event will possibly be held at the indoor practice facilities at Denius Fields on the University of Texas campus and will not be open to the public. It will indeed bring a wild card chance for Ewers to get on the good book of the scouts once again and solidify his stocks amidst stiff competition, as it gives him a familiar environment to throw more consistently with familiar receivers. There is a good chance that he will prove Mel Kiper wrong in his underwhelming prediction.

Mel Kiper doesn’t foresee a good draft position for Quinn Ewers

Quinn Ewers’s contribution and legacy to Texas football is a timeless asset. Despite not being able to live up to his usual mark, Ewers has led his team to a 13-3 record. With a towel draped around his neck and sweat trickling from his hair, when Texas quarterback Quinn Ewers walked out of the Texas field for the last time, it was hard not to look back at his underrated contribution over the past three years.

The long-standing journey of the number 3 started to flash upon his memory. He finished his career with a 64.9 percent completion rate and with the tag of the third Texas guy in all-time passing yards with 9128 and 68 passing TDs under his belt. He took the Longhorns to its first two CFP appearances in history. So, ignoring Quinn Ewers is as delusional as it sounds. Now, coming back home, it’s natural for the veteran QB to feel more comfortable in his skin. He can easily fuel some extra hope and grit to nullify Mel Kiper, the renowned draft guru’s stance on his stock.

What did he say? Well, Kiper, who is a trailblazer in the world of mock drafts and big board player rankings, doesn’t initially have Ewers going in the first round. As per the latest post-combine mock draft analysis, Kiper has Ewers after Jaxson Dart at number 9 in his top 10 count. For every Quinn Ewers fan, keep your fingers crossed for an upward shake-up, and let the stars handle the rest!
