Steve Sarkisian’s key player, Quinn Ewers, has had a bumpy ride this season. As the Texas Longhorns gear up to take on Arizona State after their impressive win against Clemson, all eyes are on Ewers as he prepares for this crucial college football playoff quarterfinal clash set for Wednesday, January 1, 2025, at Mercedes-Benz Stadium. Both teams have shown some serious grit throughout the season, and this matchup promises to be an exciting contest as they battle for a spot in the semifinals. But before we dive into the game, let’s talk about what Ewers has had to sacrifice to get here.

Texas football shared Quinn’s recent interview where he opened up about the biggest sacrifices he’s made for Texas football. “Well, I think my teammates, because that’s what they deserve. You know we’re all in the same situations; we all have stuff going on outside of football, but you know we all decide to come here and come to the facility and practice each and every day.” This season wasn’t easy for a few quarterbacks and  Ewers was one of them who was struggling. But he was sure to step up for the team.

He further added, “Be away from our families, be away from our loved ones and you know we all have the ultimate goal of trying to win a national championship, and that’s what everybody deserves. Everyone deserves my best and I think if you ask anybody in that room or anybody in the locker room, they’ll say the exact same thing.”

Even with doubts swirling around him earlier in the season, Ewers proved his worth in Texas’ 38-24 win over Clemson in the first round of the College Football Playoff. With freshman sensation Arch Manning starting to get more involved in games, some folks thought Sarkisian might be leaning toward benching the Ewers. But they couldn’t have been more wrong!
