“He is the future. He’s absolutely the future of Colorado football. But maybe this is just a ‘me’ thing…” Picture this: You’re Deion Sanders, Colorado just had a massive 9 win season, and your QB son is a Top 5 prospect in the draft. It seems like a true fairy tale ending, right?

It would’ve been if Deion weren’t losing his elite quarterback. With Shedeur gone, who in the world is going to carry Buffs? “We’ve got one coming in (Lewis). And we got one campus right now as well (Salter). They’re winners. That’s the intangible you want.” Now, Deion, as much as we are loving the Julian Lewis x Kaidon Salter arrival at Boulder, don’t you think this makes the task of picking QB1 much harder?

“I’ve got more to prove to myself than anybody else. I’ve been called overrated since I was 7.” Jake Schwanitz took X to share that this is what Lewis had to say about being a true freshman. Elite11’s ‘Most Accurate Pocket Passer’ also boasts an amazing football IQ and speed. Lewis ain’t Shedeur, but he very well might be the best coach Prime can find.

But then Salter enters the picture, saying, “Mostly I came here to throw the ball. Of course I’m gonna use my legs when I have to. Everybody knows I have no problem with running. I came here to throw the ball, we’ve got a lot of electric receivers here.” Lewis has that “high school experience,” but Kaidon? In 2022, he started as a backup quarterback right behind Johnathan Bennett. But he earned a starting position in Week 2.

Pushing Liberty for an 8-5 season. Fast forward to next year, and Salter gets the QB1 mantle. Do you know what happens next? 13-1. The only loss of the season comes from an Oregon team at the Fiesta Bowl. This guy went on to post strong numbers, averaging close to 250 yards in every. single. game.

If Juju has that “high-school experience,” then Kaidon Salter has the “college-level experience”. Now, no disrespect to Lewis—he is a massive prospect coming out of Carrollton, but if you were the head coach, would you take a true freshman as your QB1 or pick someone who has experience in the gridiron?

Deion Sanders has a big decision to make. Either you pick Juju or you go with Salter. Another idea is to follow Steve Sarkisian‘s formula and use both of them. Regardless of what happens, this QB1 job? Should go to the best man.

Juju or Salter?

“I don’t want anyone to think that Julian Lewis isn’t capable. You know, I think this job is gonna go to the best man,” was something Dukesthescoop had pointed out a few days back. Although, Kaidon Salter has the upper hand with the college experience, Juju was classified early, and his scouting report speaks volumes about his talents.

Even Ryan Koenigsberg pointed out, “I think [Lewis] has a chance to show that that gap is not as wide as it should be.” If Juju goes into spring practice and proves he can match Salter throw for throw, he’ll have a solid chance to close the debate.

“Juju has the most to gain. Because he could walk away after these 15 practices having changed the perception of him,” Jake Schwanitz added. From interviews to articles, many believe Juju has the best chance to land the No.1 spot.
