Well, Kalen DeBoer might have thought of making some revamps to his roster. After all, he knows how he failed to live up to the GOAT Nick Saban’s standards. Not making it to the playoffs did land DeBoer in the choppy waters. So why not try some trial-and-error games? Well, it might be all trial and error for the Crimson Tide, but not for their HC, who brought in an old connection from Washington. That’s none other than the former Washington OC Ryan Grubb

We are yet to figure out the Grubb effect. But what we know is the fact that it will demand the best from the O-line. Right now, the pressure looms large for Alabama’s most tenured quarterback, Ty Simpson

Can Ty Simpson rise above his low QB ranking?

Yes, so this time DeBoer thought of not adding a transfer quarterback. Is that because he is too mesmerized with Simpson, who played backup throughout three seasons in Tuscaloosa? Well, probably that is one reason. And DeBoer saw enough to determine Simpson would fare better atop Alabama’s quarterback competition than any transfer QB. The HC was already catching flak after a rough debut season at Alabama, partly because their star QB, Jalen Milroe, didn’t exactly light it up. So you can guess, as Simpson steps up, how much pressure he is going to face. Amidst the heat, we have the rankings!

On That SEC Football Podcast, analyst Steven Lassan did the honors to rank the quarterbacks. And where did Simpson land? At No.13 out of the 16 quarterbacks. But what made the analyst leave Simpson with such a low rank? He stated, “I think if I knew he was the starter, I would probably move him up a spot or two.” Will Lassan get a chance to change his rankings? “I think a lot of potential. Former five-star. The DeBoer-Ryan Grubb offense, I think is going to produce yards, and it’s certainly going to produce points,” the analyst had a lot of points to like. But the only question remains whether Alabama would play Simpson as the starter or not.

What’s your perspective on:

Can Ty Simpson finally prove he's the QB Alabama needs, or is DeBoer betting on the wrong horse?

Still not sure about how DeBoer’s Grubb move is going to be the turning point in the QB’s career? Let’s then freshen your memory. In Washington, the duo led the Huskies offense to finish first and second in passing offense in 2022 and 2023. Plus, not to forget, the DeBoer-Grubb electrifying combo molded players like Michael Penix Jr. and Jake Haener, both NFL quarterbacks now. So, how is the redshirt junior going to fit in DeBoer’s Alabama?

Alabama insider’s clean chit for Ty Simpson

It’s obvious that Simpson is going to fall directly under the microscope and get compared to Milroe. The quarterback’s time in college has come to an end as he makes his way to the NFL Draft, being one of the most exciting players for his physical ability. But not to forget how Milroe had struggled with his accuracy and control. Let’s now pan our focus to Simpson. The sophomore quarterback from Martin, Tennessee, is believed to carry accuracy with himself as a passer.

Plus, he has proven himself in distributing the pigskin better down the field. But Simpson’s not likely to be the same kind of rushing quarterback Milroe was at Tuscaloosa. So, it’s time for some praise for the “No.13” quarterback. Clint Lamb from BamaOnline said, “He (Simpson) throws with accuracy. Bal-s placement, in my opinion, has it been a little spotty at times. Yes, but I think he is way more consistent with ba-l placement and accuracy than Jalen Milroe.” As Ty Simpson gets the clean chit, he is believed to be better suited to run DeBoer’s offense. That’s because his offensive style relies mostly on short and accurate throws. This will be a brownie point when it comes to allowing receivers to turn upfield. Can the HC rely on Simpson?

Well, looks like Kalen DeBoer has already been sold to his talents. “You certainly appreciate what he’s done. Just continue to work on what he can control, and that’s himself…To not just step up as a leader because I think he’s been doing that but to have that opportunity to step in and be the quarterback.” Ty Simpson’s entering his fourth year with the Crimson Tide, and the former 5-star recruit has been waiting a long time for his chance to be QB1. Now the question is: can he win the job, beating out Keelon Russell and Austin Mack?
