Will injuries derail Matt Rhule's squad in their crucial clash against the Colorado Buffs?

Oh no! Before the 2024 kickoff, Matt Rhule’s epic saga of misfortunes continues. The Nebraska Cornhuskers will be facing their biggest rivals, Deion Sanders’ Colorado Buffaloes, on September 8. And guess what? Rhule’s army has been plagued by back-to-back injuries leading the team’s health status to reach rock bottom. A bunch of players, including Teddy Prochazka, Roger Gradney, and many others, are robbed of their opportunity to hit the field and would miss out on the rest of the 2024 season. Does that mean that all the expectations burden is now piled up on the Patrick-Mahomes-like player?

Rhule had pinned high hopes on the 2024 season to flip the script and seek the much-needed revenge against Deion’s Buffs. Last year, Colorado’s victory against Nebraska came with 36-14. For the 2024 lineup, the Cornhuskers HC had kept only this motive in mind. But poor Rhule! His goals are crumbling like a Jenga tower. On August 8, during their night practice session, the HC came up with injury updates. And the Nebraska fans had been taken aback by the news.

For all his career, Prochazka has battled injuries. However, the program counted on him after he made six starts last season. But not anymore, since the junior left tackle has suffered torn ACL injuries. Same for the freshman linebacker Gradney, a four-star prospect in the 2024 recruiting class who is now struggling with an injured ACL. And guess what? That’s not the end.

While these two players will be out for the rest of the season, even though the other players will be a part of the program, their injury is indeed concerning. “Princewill (Umanmielen) banged knees. Nothing long-term, but we’ll hold him tonight. (Henry) Lutovsky reinjured a calf that he’s had all summer. So he’ll probably be a little bit more long-term,” confirmed Rhule. Does that mean Patrick Mahomes’ doppelgänger is their only ray of hope?

Dylan Raiola’s quest for greatness energizes Matt Rhule and Co.’s future

Cornhuskers QB Dylan Raiola has been claiming the spotlight for quite some time. It’s all about the quintessential Mahomes touch that he carries with himself. He made headlines sporting the 3x Super Bowl champion look. And it’s not only about his physical looks. Raiola ensures to imbibe the Kansas City QB’s athletic traits as well. He has been so pumped up in his mission to be the next Mahomes, that the Cornhuskers QB flew off to Kansas City before the spring game. But why is Patrick’s land all of a sudden?

Raiola is ranked as the third-best QB in the 2024 cycle. However, that did not stop him from enriching his talents. Rhule’s QB wanted to seek guidance from the trainer who has been with Mahomes since the champ was in the eighth grade. It was none other than Bobby Stroupe.

And guess what? Matt Rhule is lucky to have Dylan Raiola since the QB’s star power acted like a magnet to lure another 4-star WR to Nebraska. On August 9, the 6-foot, 190-pound player Isaiah Mozee committed to the Cornhuskers. Can Raiola now step up and turn Nebraska’s season around like a sports fairy tale? Let your opinion pour in!
