What was supposed to be an iconic season for Colorado Buffaloes’ safety Shilo Sanders ended on a sad note on September 7. In the Buffs’ match against Nebraska Cornhuskers, Sanders reportedly injured his arm in the first quarter, relegating him out for the rest of the game. He was seen in a sling during the fourth quarter.
While his father and Colorado coach Deion Sanders initially seemed oblivious of what happened, he later revealed heartbreaking news putting the team’s future in the air. “I think broken forearm, something like that, so he won’t be back at all.”
Shilo’s injury happened during Nebraska’s opening drive when he went to tackle running back Dante Dowdell to halt his 13-yard run. After the collision, the 24-year-old disappeared into the changing area and never came back to play. Currently, there are no details available about his status and schedule, in the post-game media availability. However, Shilo’s devastating news has concerned many—especially since the player in his final season of collegiate football after graduating from Jackson State last year, and is vitally important to the Buffs’ hopes of improving their record.

Notably, he was Colorado’s leading tackler (67) last year and quickly established himself as a top defensive player with a pick-six against CSU in Week 3, four forced fumbles and three pass breakups. He was expected to have a huge season before moving to the pros. Infact, Sanders’ performance was one of the highlights of Colorado’s dismal run last year!
The team was 130th in total defense, giving up 453.3 yards per game, and 127th in passing defense, giving up 276.9 passing yards per game. Additionally, they were 124th in scoring defense, giving up 34.8 points per game. The injury, if as serious as we think, will definitely have major repercussions across the Buffs’ arsenal.
So naturally, the massive dent on Shilo’s future plans has put the community in a frenzy with fans flocking to social media to express their heartbreak!

However, the hard hit from the game is not limited to just this for HC Deion Sanders. The other one who succumbed is linebacker Trevor Woods, who was ejected for targeting against Huskers receiver Isaiah Neyor late in the second quarter.

However, ‘Coach Prime’ focused on the alternative in his half-time interview with NBC. “But we gotta come up with something. We’ve got to go in there and get these guys fired up a little bit.” Those changes must have worked because Nebraska didn’t add to its score in the second half.
Having said that, one fan commented, “Omg shilo hurt 2 this some bullsh*t“, while another stated, “COLORADO IS F****D SHILO BROKE HIM FOREARM IM SO F****** DONE“. Therefore, it is obvious that Shilo played a significant role in the game.
