Well, well, well. The undefeated champs have fallen. See, Curt Cignetti did something wild this season. No one out there would’ve thought that an Indiana team would run through its schedule undefeated. 10 back-to-back wins? For Hoosiers? Are you kidding me? That’s the element of surprise that Curt Cignetti and Co. managed to garner and, honestly, it did wonders for the program. Let’s drop a question in the mix, though, as we are talking about Hoosiers and Indiana. This entire 10-win run. Did it even happen against any good team? Think about it. The only real contender Hoosiers faced was the Wolverines, but they have been a disaster this entire season. But when they went up against OSU, a team that had a pulse, well, safe to say, that Ryan Day and Co. had a field day with this one.

But here is the thing: while Cignetti did lose to the Buckeyes and they’ve had their fair share of criticism, it doesn’t look like the team and Cignetti are going to catch any strays from Paul Finebaum. Back on The Matt Barrie Show, Finebaum had a different pick. “The idea that Illinois is a ranked team is pretty laughable to me,” Finebaum mentioned. Yo, wake up, shots have been fired. See, the Illini are 5th on the Big 10 list and it makes you wonder why.

Who has the Illini played this season that is even remotely good? Okay, wait, we will give the boys the credit for breaking Matt Rhule‘s confidence. See, the Huskers were on a massive run. Who stopped it? Illinois. Luke Altmyer and Co. were all over the Huskers and frankly speaking, Dylan Raiola couldn’t even do much about it.

This was pretty much the game after which the entire Raiola injury theory started, but that’s a discussion for another day. The second big win was against Michigan out of all the teams. But here is the thing, is this even the old Wolverines we all knew? The QB room is garbage and Kirk Campbell‘s offense is all over the place. Keeping these 2 teams aside, the rest of the schedule was really easy, and yet 8-3. Not a bad run, don’t get us wrong but it could be better.

But here is the thing, though. Other than some select games, the overall offense of the team has barely managed to cross past the 20-point mark. Not only that, but the games they lost were pure blowout losses. So, summing it all up, does Illini, being a ranked team and in the top 5 in the Big 10, suddenly overvalue the entire Big 10?

Is B1G overvalued?

Back on the same show, Matt Barrie noted, “Let’s go to the Big Ten. Do you think the Big Ten is overvalued?” Finebaum was quick to agree with that perception, but once again, has the SEC or any other conference even done anything to compare with the boys on B1G?

What’s your perspective on:

Does Illinois' ranking make a mockery of the Big Ten's credibility?

Have an interesting take?

Right now, who is ruling the CFP list? OSU and Ducks. Both teams have taken the 2nd and the first spot on the playoff ranking, and they are pretty much getting the first and second seed handed to them in a golden plate.

This entire thing kind of reminds you of the Texas Longhorns scenario. Is Steve Sarkisian a great good? Of course. Are the players in the correct mindset, and is the QB making plays? Definitely. But are the Longhorns overvalued and should not get an easy ticket into the semi-final? Maybe. Who have they faced all year other than Georgia?

The only time they fight a tough team, they lose, just like Cignetti and Co. But for the Big 10 scenario, OSU and Ducks have EARNED their spot, and this year, the other conferences have just not stepped up.
