Is Deion Sanders being unfairly targeted, or does Colorado really lack a clear football identity?

You know it’s an off day for Deion when even his harshest critic comes off as a knight in shining armor. Ever since Deion’s controversial SEC Media Days press conference, public opinion has drastically shifted in his favor. Out of all the shortcomings that Deion and the team are used to, the fans’ support has always been constant but today’s just a dark day for Coach Prime and the reputation he holds dearly among the people. Deion lashed out at a reporter from CBS and refused to take a question from him due to his anger with the media outlet for reasons unknown. Later in the interview, he belittled reporters who chose to poke holes in his beloved program and would only entertain questions that fawned over “his majesty”, Coach Prime, and his greatness. Now, it’s all come back to bite him back as Paul Finebaum lashed out his scathing words on Deion over this incident and by extension, buried Colorado’s reputation in the sand once more.

Paul Finebaum strikes again! During the latest episode of the ‘ESPN College Football’ show, Paul Finebaum dished his harsh opinions towards Colorado Buffaloes, a program which he’s termed as “nothing” in the past, and took it a notch higher with his recent comments. He’s referred to Deion as the “best salesman” in the past, but only with reference to how Colorado continues to share the spotlight with him without doing too exceptional on the gridiron themselves.

Finebaum claimed that Colorado is thriving just because of Coach Prime’s “clout” as the kids today would say. He further added, “I mean, this is a program that is living off of its coach’s head, not off of the school reputation because they have none other than a National Championship about 30 years ago. I’m sure that’s going to get me in trouble with Coach Prime. I’m sure he’s going to yell at me like he did with the local media on Saturday, but I really don’t care.” Thus, Deion’s intolerant behavior during the SEC Media Days has landed him on the radar of Finebaum yet again, only this time, the HC might have had it coming. With all that said, let’s take a look at what Jason Whitlock, the second biggest critic of Deion Sanders, had to say about his antics at the press media conference.

Deion Sanders is a jacka**, as per Jason Whitlock

There have been times in the past where Deion has been termed a “bully” for not treating his players right, especially in the case of Xavier Smith’s exit. But this time, the slander might actually be in the right because there’s no way anyone can possibly defend Deion after he basically demeaned reporters who asked him remotely criticizing his team or letting his personal vendetta against CBS prompt him to shut down a reporter. Critics like Jason Whitlock or Paul Finebaum who are constantly on the case of Deion Sanders are hard to take seriously on the daily but when it comes to such a situation, then they come out looking as the good guys, which is a grave sentence in itself.

On the 13th August episode of the Jason Whitlock show, he took his gloves off and didn’t hold back on openly hurling expletives at Deion Sanders. He said, “Deion Sanders is acting like a jack*ss. He thinks he’s playing chess, but he’s playing checkers. When you bully people and don’t engage with people, don’t expect them to be enthusiastic to interview you.” Thus, the entire world of college football seems to be against Coach Prime today. Millions of followers and a die-hard fan base can’t save Deion this time, and the HC might have to face the music soon, much to his dismay.
