Deion Sanders is “irrelevant”, and the Buffs are not a “playoff team”. Blah Blah. Did you ever, in your wildest dreams, thought the same man who would say all of this about Deion Sanders would now be singing his praises? See, let’s be real. Colorado Buffs have had one of the best comeback stories in college football. Coach Prime and Co. were 4-8 last season, right now? They are second in the entire Big 12 and on their 4th Road game win. This is the best track record Colorado has ever had since 1999, and that says a lot. Deion Sanders ain’t backing down right now. They have secured the Bowl games, and now, with 7-2 under their belt and a massive win over Texas Tech, you can bet they want that playoff cake.
So, it ain’t no wonder why Paul Finebaum has switched trains. See, this guy was probably the biggest Coach Prime hater out there, and now this guy is naming NFL and CFB teams, which Deion Sanders can flip around. Back on The Matt Barrie Show, Finebaum mentioned, “Deion couldn’t even get a call from Florida State a couple of years ago. But to be fair, what had he done then? Right, he’s now one of the hottest coaches in the country.” Now, if you didn’t know, Coach Priome was the “It” thing for the Seminoles. Right now, FSU is down the gutter with a 1-9 run, and it feels like they should’ve just hired Coach Prime. However, let’s keep this real. Deion Sanders wasn’t even coaching at the college level when FSU reached out to Mike Norvell back in 2019.

It was in 2020 when Jackson State took their shot and hired Deion for their program. It is kind of wild that FSU entered the season as an AP Top 10 contender and is right now having arguably the worst season possible. Finebaum’s suggestion makes sense because Deion could indeed turn things around for the Seminoles. But what Finebaum says next is even more wild. Matt Barrie points it out first; “No one expects Mike McCarthy to last with the Cowboys. Imagine if Jerry [Jones] brings in Deion.” Finebaum couldn’t help but agree. “I never liked the Colorado job for him, but he’s made the most of it…… He’s beaten the odds, you know, good time to get out.”
Okay, the Cowboys are having their worst year so far. With a 3-5 run, Jerry Jones badly needs a revamp. Their first mistake of the season was not taking in Derrick Henry. That guy is doing amazing with the Ravens, and Jones’ excuse of “not being able to afford him” just falls flat on its face. Then follow it up with QB Dak Prescott’s season-ending injury, and you have the perfect recipe for disaster.
Jones needs a fresh start. Who could be a better candidate than Coach Prime? See, no matter how much you hate him, you cannot deny the fact that he has managed to put Colorado Football on the map. If you go back 2 years, this team was irrelevant. They just came off of their worst season with a 1-11 run and Deion had to do something to bring em’ back. Boy, oh boy, he did. If you want to know how much success Coach Prime can bring in for the Cowboys, then you gotta check out the financial growth CU has experienced because of him.

Ever heard of ”The Flutie Effect”? This is a phenomenon when a school becomes extremely famous because of its sports program. Deion Sanders has done exactly that for CU. There has been a 20% jump in overall applications for Colorado in the past year. The school has witnessed a total of 68,000 applications during 2024.
The demand was so high that they had to extend their offers to another 51,000. The boost in overall student influx has allowed CU to start focusing on bringing in kids from out of state. What this gives the school is more revenue, as out-of-state students pay more than in-state students. Overall, CU has seen profits that go upwards of $100 million. This is what Coach Prime is capable of.
And have we forgotten about the entire social media game? Whether it’s Well Off or Reach The People, Deion Sanders’ entire social media web has managed to keep every single fan in the loop. From interviews to covering moments from the sidelines, this has been monumental in building the hype and selling out the games for the Buffs. Finally, Shedeur Sanders and Travis Hunter.

Deion has 2 of the best players in CFB under his wing, and that can easily boost the overall image. See, Jones has already shared an interest in taking in Shedeur as their new QB. They need fresh talent and someone who can bring in the eyes of the Cowboys and Buffs QB is the perfect choice. So, in short, hiring Coach Prime just makes sense.
