Can the CU Buffs handle NDSU's unpredictable playbook, or are they in for a rude awakening?

It’s a tough season ahead for the Colorado Buffaloes! They will meet the mighty Bisons in their season-opener and then go on to play against their biggest rivals, the Nebraska Cornhuskers in their next. With such a rocky road ahead on their path to redemption, the OC Pat Shurmur is warning the Buffs’ to prepare long and hard for the sharp competitive edge that the North Dakota State team will bring to the gridiron.

The Buffaloes and the Bisons first took on each other in the year of 1903. Since then, they’ve met over 115 times with NDSU leading by a record of 57-38-4, which indicates that the Buffs have a lot to catch up on. Most of the fans believe that winning the scrimmage line will be key for Colorado’s defense in the game but as per Pat Shurmur, getting through the impregnable NDSU defense will be the top priority to mark off the list.

The offensive coordinator of the Buffaloes appreciated the “culture” that exists within the North Dakota State Bisons and said, “They have a rich winning tradition. They’re very fundamental in their approach, uh but I’m going to say fundamental in their approach because they have enough wrinkles to keep you on your toes, whether it be simulated pressures, they will play some man. I think it’s just a cultural thing with them.” Thus, the Colorado Buffaloes aren’t underestimating their opponents at all as overconfidence tends to be one of their biggest obstacles in itself. With that being said, even Coach Prime himself seems to be a bit nervous about facing off against NDSU in their season opener as he was heard being upset with the team’s athletic director for not protesting about the schedule.

The Colorado Buffaloes are one of the more talked about topics in the world of college football. Since last season was a disaster for the team with a poor record of 4-8, Deion and Co. will need to ensure they get at least 5 or 6 wins to prove that they’re a credible program that’s worthy of all the hype that surrounds them. But after looking at the fixtures of the season and seeing the Bisons as their first opponents, Deion seemed to be a bit frustrated with Rick George for not landing an easier team.

As per Coach Prime, the Bisons “play their butts off” and “they don’t make any mistakes,” which are already great attributes for an opposing team. He further added, “They’re good. They’re really darn good. I’m mad at Rick right now for putting them on the schedule. Can you give me a layup or something? Those guys are wonderful. Their staff has always been amongst the best.” There is no doubt about the fact that the 30th August game is going to be a phenomenal matchup but more than the Bisons, the Buffaloes will need to secure a win to strengthen their precedent for the rest of the season.
