Y’all, the national championship vibes are wild. Notre Dame is battling Ohio State, but the real madness? It’s going down on the sidelines. King of Frat, Pat McAfee, has dragged Ty Schmit, rocking his “Lou Holtz” impression, into the mix. Imagine Lou Holtz losing it, the winds, clocks, and scoreboard literally howling against Notre Dame, and Marcus Freeman fighting for air. You can’t script this better. It’s a frat party meets football drama, with stakes sky-high. And it’s getting messy out here.

It all started earlier this week when Ty ‘Lou Holtz’ Schmit showed up during a sit-down interview with Marcus Freeman and Ryan Day. Watching Freeman and Day laugh like they just stumbled across the funniest meme ever was peak comedy. But that was just the appetizer. McAfee took his antics up several notches, rolling Schmit onto the national championship field, fully committed to his Holtz persona. Sideline antics? Legendary for most and low-key cringe for some. But honestly, it doesn’t matter, because humor is subjective, right?

Decked out in Holtz-inspired drip, Schmit kept the energy going for ESPN2’s ‘Field Pass with the Pat McAfee Show.’ But then, things got dicey for Notre Dame. Down by a touchdown, Marcus Freeman called a trick play—4th-and-2, fake punt, and backup QB Steve Angeli sent one soaring toward Jordan Faison. And guess what? The dude drops it. Cue Ty “Lou Holtz” dramatically collapses to the ground like he just missed out on the $TRUMP coin.

McAfee couldn’t resist narrating the chaos. “I think Coach Lou Holtz is breaking down emotionally, physically, and spiritually,” he said, trying to keep a straight face. Someone even came to check Ty’s pulse. His response? “I think I sh-t my Depends.” And McAfee’s mic-drop moment? “Coach Lou’s having a bad night, so is Marcus Freeman.” At this point, the vibes were getting darker.

If you thought the fake Lou Holtz drama was spicy, wait until you hear about the real one.

What’s your perspective on:

Is Pat McAfee's sideline chaos overshadowing the real drama between Ryan Day and Lou Holtz?

Ryan Day’s feud with coach Lou Holtz and throws flowers & subtle jab at Marcus Freeman

Lou Holtz, the OG Notre Dame head coach and an 88-year-old legend, has been beefing with Ryan Day since Ohio State edged Notre Dame 17-14 in 2023. Day, feeling some type of way after that game, called out Holtz for questioning Ohio State’s toughness. Holtz clapped back, hinting Notre Dame might be low-key doing Day a favor by keeping his job safe if the Buckeyes lost this natty.

Fast forward to this championship matchup, and Holtz wasn’t even planning to show up. But then, like a plot twist in a Drake song, he pulled up. And now, fans are living for the side-by-side comparisons of Real Holtz and Fake Holtz on the sidelines. It’s like the multiverse of college football chaos.

Ryan Day kept it very straight & real while giving backhanded props to Marcus Freeman. “I have a tremendous amount of respect for Notre Dame, and certainly what Marcus has done there,” he said earlier this week. “I think they’re a gritty group, they’re a tough group. They’re a great program, and the last two years have been a battle playing against them, and we know it’s going to be the same way every year is a different group of guys in a different situation. This is a different situation. It’ll be the same way,” he said.

Ryan Day bested Marcus Notre Dame twice; looks like he’s going to do it again. Who knows, Ryan Day’s probably bracing for another Holtz jab. The shade levels are off the charts.

So, here we are. The clock’s ticking, Notre Dame’s in desperate need of a miracle, and Marcus Freeman’s night is looking rougher than Lil Wayne’s tour schedule. The Buckeyes are up, and the scoreboard feels like it’s trolling the Irish. Pat McAfee’s antics might’ve stolen the show for now, but can Freeman and his squad flip the script? Or will the night belong to Ryan Day and Ohio State? Looks like Marcus Freeman’s already 0-3 against Ryan Day.
