Pat McAfee Nearly Blown Away by Cannon Shot, Narrowly Survives College GameDay Mishap

Let’s be honest here: Pat McAfee has to be the best thing that has ever happened to college football. The entire College GameDay for football fans is full of random shenanigans, and behind it all is Pat McAfee. This man somehow managed to turn into a meme when the camera panned towards him, dancing as Nick Saban just sat there staring at him. And if all of that wasn’t enough, the entire Pat McAfee show is your daily dose of the wildest takes on college football. But, this time, though, Pat McAfee could’ve put himself in danger with the stunt he pulled during another episode of College GameDay.

We got a cannon out here, boys. College GameDay took to their official Instagram account to share a snap of McAfee in full soldier attire with that hat on and a sword in hand screaming “Cannon.” But hey, this could’ve turned out bad. McAfee was standing a bit too close to the cannon, and it managed to shake him up. At least his reaction to the sh-t shows so. But fear not, it was a blank sh-t. No one in their right mind would be sh-oting a cannon while the fans were standing right in front of it.

But you know a funny thing? This ain’t even the first time McAfee has come close to getting ‘blown away’ by a cannon sh-t. Back during another Texas A&M game in August, McAfee pulled the same stunt and was almost flattened by the cannon. While he was not hurt, the sound did do some ear damage.

Coming back to the games, this is the perfect way to create the hype for A&M vs. Longhorns kick-off. It has been over a decade since the last rivalry game between the Aggies and the Longhorns. Honestly, Texas left quite a scar before leaving for the SEC.

With a 27-25 win over A&M, the Longhorns flew away and people had thought that this 118 years of war would never happen again. But here we are. Steve Sarkisian and Mike Elko will be facing off in just a few hours, but it looks like the mind games have already begun.

Longhorns vs. Aggies: 118 years of war

Back on College GameDay itself, Steve Sarkisian landed the first “verbal” blow against Elko. See, the Longhorns are not the crowd favorite. While Sark has managed to grab a 10-1 run this, it has been built on the foundation of a much weaker schedule as compared to the other SEC teams. That’s pretty much why Sarkisian said, “It’s okay to be the villain.”

The only time they had a challenge was against Kirby Smart and Co. and they did horribly in that showdown. Now, the Aggies, on the other hand, have had quite the run. These guys were in the playoff talks as well, but with that close loss against Auburn, they are pretty much off the list.

See, Elko will make sure the Aggies defense creates enough pressure to result in turnovers. What is left to see is if Sark, Quinn Ewers, and the Texan offense can create enough zones and points to mark another win and finally prove their worthiness for having the No. 3 spot on the playoff list.
