Shedeur Sanders, the son of famed NFL legend Deion Sanders, is no longer just the ‘son’ of a famous father. He has risen through the ranks of college football and has etched out a name for himself. Landing multimillion NIL deals and lighting up the Folsom Field week in and week out. This is the story of grit, desire, and, most importantly, self-belief. But, all things said, this was always expected to be the case for Shedeur. After all, he had Coach Prime as his head coach at Colorado. So, it seems he has become one of the many casualties of fate in recent months.

Building up to the NFL Draft, the months after completing a CFB season are probably the most grueling for players aiming for top picks. They have to perform exceptionally in media interviews, personal visits, and the NFL Combine. Tiring, right? Well, Shedeur Sanders has, of late, suffered a similar conundrum, as Cam Ward is now expected to be the first pick. NFL insider Ian Rapoport, speaking on the Pat McAfee show, provided another disappointing update for Shedeur Sanders.

Pat McAfee posed a crucial question to Ian Rapoport about whether the veteran signings will have any effect on the Draft. “If the Browns are not taking a rookie quarterback in or open for business, I think that the Giants will probably take one. What I don’t know is that it does seem that Cam Ward, as of right now, is probably the most likely number one. But I don’t know where that number two slot is. I know teams are sort of all over the map.” Well, that would sound quite concerning for Shedeur Sanders for more than one reason.

For starters, Shedeur Sanders won’t be the first QB taken off the board. Let’s assume Cam Ward goes to the Titans with the first pick. Can Shedeur go No. 2? Back-to-back QB picks? Highly unlikely considering the Draft will have players like Travis Hunter and Abdul Carter—true generational talents.

Let’s go one by one. Assuming Ward is off the board with the first pick. Second pick? Cleveland Browns? Well, they are currently in talks with Russell Wilson, who is looking to shift places, considering Mike Tomlin wants Aaron Rodgers. New York Giants with the third pick? Shedeur could go there. There were rumors about the same a month ago. As per Bleacher Report, the Giants could take Shedeur if they don’t get either Wilson or Rodgers.

However, Tom Fornelli’s mock draft for CBS Sports had the team picking Hunter over Shedeur. Then, the Patriots are a no, and the same for the Jaguars; the Raiders now have Geno Smith, the Jets have Justin Fields, the Panthers have Bryce Young, the Saints are hanging on Derek Carr, and Chicago has Caleb Williams. We are done with the first 10 picks. The only opening is at the Giants, and nobody knows what the Giants would do or if what they do would make any sense. We already saw that with their treatment of Saquon Barkley.

Shedeur Sanders did visit the Titans just last week, but so did Cam Ward. Mind you, according to an insider, Ward did impress them at the team meeting and even in the tape room. His interaction with staffers was also said to be quite positive. Are teams not favoring Sanders because of some of his weaknesses, like lack of smooth release, drifting inside the pocket, or performing badly when facing pressure? No one can tell as of now. But, it seems there is another concerning news for Sanders in the pipeline.

What’s your perspective on:

Is Shedeur Sanders being overshadowed by Cam Ward, or is it just draft day politics?

Have an interesting take?

Cam Ward, miles ahead of Shedeur Sanders in the draft race?

Most of the recent mock drafts conducted as of late have largely been dominated by only two names: Cam Ward and Shedeur Sanders. However, a recent mock Draft conducted by Yahoo Sports places Shedeur Sanders as the number 3 pick, giving the second pick to another Colorado star, Travis Hunter. No one can surely argue that Hunter doesn’t deserve the second spot, but it seems Sanders’ demotion from draft picks isn’t slowing down. Cam Ward, on the other hand, has got news that will surely alleviate all his NFL Draft concerns.

Yahoo Sports picked Cam Ward to be their first pick, who was expected to be taken by the Tennessee Titans. The major reason behind the move was the Tennessee Titans leaning heavily toward the former Miami quarterback and not making any significant strides toward signing a veteran free agent. This clearly is pointing toward the Titans expecting to build the team around Cam Ward by using their first pick to land Cam Ward. The Titans even interviewed the signal caller at the recent NFL Draft combine for almost 20 minutes. This points to something brewing in the Titans mixer. The verdict?

Will the Titans sign Cam Ward? No one can know for sure. Will Shedeur Sanders not go on the first pick? Again, it’s not written on a stone tablet. If you ask us, it’s a hype game, and players certainly can’t do much as of now. The NFL teams will do everything to evaluate their prospects, which would be their long-term investment. So, whoever gets picked first, be it Cam Ward or Shedeur Sanders. Just remember, Tom Brady was the 199th pick. The main task starts after the Draft.
