Ain’t NO way they just did Quinn Ewers like this. The 2025 NFL Draft is right around the corner, and this 22-year-old quarterback just announced he’s entering the draft this January, giving up his remaining college eligibility. You’d think a guy who loved playing football on “the forty acres,” stuck with the Longhorns for three years, and practically dragged them out of the gutter and back into the national talk would be getting his flowers. But no! The so-called “NFL scouts” are out here putting straight disrespect on his name and comparing him to a 5th round NFL bust.
On February 3rd, ‘NFL Rookie Watch’ dropped a bombshell: some anonymous NFL scout said Quinn Ewers is “on the same level as a prospect” as Spencer Rattler—a whole fifth-round pick last year. And if that wasn’t enough blasphemy, these same scouts claim Ewers’ “real value” is in the third or fourth round, but some QB-needy team will probably reach for him earlier.

First of all, let’s talk facts. The man was carrying the weight of an entire state before he made his first snap in burnt orange. Expectations were sky-high from the moment he stepped on campus. Texas wanted him to be the second coming of Vince Young, and guess what? He actually delivered. Back-to-back CFP Semis. A win over Alabama in Tuscaloosa. A Peach Bowl thriller where he clutched up in OT, throwing for 322 yards and four total tuddies. Yet, somehow, some way, scouts still found a way to discredit him.
Let’s keep it a buck: Spencer Rattler? The QB who got benched at Oklahoma and had to transfer? Will Levis? The same Will Levis they hyped up for his arm strength and muscles just for him to get snubbed on draft night? Comparing either of them to Ewers is borderline criminal.
Statistically, Ewers cooked. In 36 starts at Texas, he went 27-9, threw for over 9k yards, 68 tuddies, and completed 67.4% of his passes. In 2024 alone, he put up 3,472 yards, 31 TDs, and a solid 65.8% completion rate. This man walked into Tuscaloosa and threw 3 touchdowns on a Nick Saban defense—and scouts wanna act like that never happened? Be for real.
But the streets weren’t having it. The second ‘NFL Rookie Watch’ posted that; fans loaded up the receipts and aired out their grievances.
The Internet came to Quinn Ewers’ rescue
The fans started with, “Quinn ain’t nowhere near as bad as Levis…and isn’t comparable to him either.” Translation: Will Levis got NFL hype for having a cannon arm, some muscles, and his one 55+ yard touchdown throw. Meanwhile, Ewers was out here actually winning games and leading Texas to the promised land. Keep the comparisons to yourself.
Another fan chimed in, “Not an Ewers guy, but he’s better than Rattler, and it’s not close.” Rattler’s entire college legacy is getting benched by Caleb Williams and taking Oklahoma down with him before dipping to South Carolina. Leadership? Mid. Consistency? Nowhere to be found. Comparing him to Ewers is wild work.
This fan called out the NFL Rookie Watch, “This page just be making sh-t up 🤣 crazy if anyone takes these serious.” The streets are calling cap. You mean to tell us a dude who took Texas to two straight CFPs is on the same level as Rattler, who had to transfer to even start? We ain’t buying it.

Another IG user asked for receipts, “Proof anyone said this.” One thing about NFL scouts—they love to talk anonymously when they know they’re saying something questionable. If this was a real take, somebody would put their name on it.
Last user commented, “Being comped as a small Will Levis has to be one of the most disrespectful things a person can say.” You telling us a QB who actually won meaningful games is being compared to a QB whose main personality trait is “strong arm” and “eats bananas with the peel on?” Nah, that’s pure disrespect.
The way Quinn Ewers is getting treated by scouts is crazy. He resurrected Texas football, went toe-to-toe with the best teams in the country and still has to fight for respect. But we’ve seen this before. If there’s one thing about the draft process, it’s that it doesn’t always favor athletes who actually win games.

Still, if history’s any indicator, one of these QB-needy teams is going to wise up, take Ewers early, and watch him go off. And when that happens? These same scouts gonna be scrambling, acting like they were believers from the start.
