Is Sherrone Moore's confidence justified, or is Michigan setting themselves up for a Buckeye beatdown?

Someone’s confident. See, the Wolverines and Sherrone Moore haven’t had the best season so far. Coming off of that natty title, you would think that this team is also destined to dominate in 2024. Beep no. Standing on a 6-5 run this year, Sherrone Moore and Co. have barely made it into the Bowl games. Much of the struggles can be credited to the ongoing QB issues and the lack of offensive depth for Moore. After Jim Harbaugh and JJ McCarthy left, not only was Moore left alone to recover a somewhat pulse-less team, but he also had to juggle the entire NCAA cheating scandal. Not a good start as a first-time HC, huh?

But he somehow made it work, and this was rewarded with a massive 50-6 win over the Northwestern Wildcats. Of course, winning against a 4-6 team with barely any good players on the roster ain’t something to write home about but it looks like Moore ain’t gonna let it slide. Back on The Wolverines YouTube channel, Moore issued a “warning” to OSU. “We’ll definitely have to work the elements and create some noise,” Moore mentioned. It looks like they gonna use the 50-6 blowout win as a motivating factor against the Buckeyes.

Good for Moore, but isn’t he celebrating a bit too early? This year has been full of surprises, and one thing we have learned very well is that you should never get too confident. Curt Cignetti tried. What did that cost him? A stain on the near-perfect season run and a quick slam dunk from their Top 5 spot on the CFP list.

See, Ryan Day and Co. aren’t people you should be taking lightly. The Buckeyes are on the 2nd spot on the CFP list, and there is nothing stopping them from mowing through a hollow Michigan squad.

At the center of it all, Day still has a much better roster and a quarterback who actually knows what he is doing. Can Moore say the same? Davis Warren has thrown more interceptions than touchdowns, and Alex Orji is a one-trick pony. The biggest problem is that Moore has to rely on an offensive coordinator who has no idea what to do.

A shaky offense for Sherrone Moore

Okay, how many of you will agree that Kirk Campbell is better off as the QB coach rather than as an offensive coordinator? Back on the Maize Mad Man podcast, Wolverines RB Micah Ka’apana’s father mentioned, “Some of the stuff we run man it’s like we’re playing Tecmo bowl and I’m dating myself.” Now, who was this jab directed to? Campbell, of course.

What’s your perspective on:

Is Sherrone Moore's confidence justified, or is Michigan setting themselves up for a Buckeye beatdown?

Have an interesting take?

Let’s keep the Wildcats win out of the equation. Campbell, in general, has been a disaster for the team. Michigan has more than enough talent on the offense, but what has Campbell managed to churn out of them? An average of barely 30 points in 11 games. These are the same guys who were grabbing 40-pointer showdowns left and right last season.

Moore has no doubt always been the best OC Michigan could’ve ever dreamed of. With the responsibility falling on Campbell’s shoulders, he has done nothing but disappoint. If, against OSU, he pulls the same lame play calling, then the Wolverines are getting blown out of the water in the first half.
