Home/College Football

We gotta walk about Ryan Day‘s future. The Buckeyes still got their playoff spot, and that is a good thing. Now any average fan would be quite happy with it, but true OSU fans are not. In the center of it all is just one single game. See, Day and Buckeyes have been massive this season with a single loss to the current No.1 team, the Ducks. So it is acceptable. Their final game of the regular season was against Michigan, and fans had faith that Ryan Day could finally end the OSU losing streak. Oh well. Wolverines, with a leaky roster and no proper QB, somehow managed to grab a 13-10 win over the best roster money can buy.

So, naturally, fans were NOT happy. With the “Fire Ryan Day” chants in full swing on the internet, it makes you wonder if the fanbase is correct or if are they ‘toxic’? Back on CBS Sports, Danny Kanell had some criticism, but not towards Ryan Day. “I think you’re crazy to run off Ryan Day, after just 5 years. My man is 47 and 1 against every other team that is not named Michigan. He gets you right on the verge every single season. I do wonder, like in today’s today’s environment, is it too toxic? Like, do you lose your fan base because they’re so disgruntled? Which I don’t think is the best way to make a decision,” Kanell pointed out. The fans are always right. If you were in marketing or something, you’d understand this statement.

However, sometimes, listening too much to the people could end up harming the company. And that exactly could be the scenario for OSU and Day’s future. See, we get it. No one is trying to cover up for the UM loss. Frankly, it is not acceptable.

Sherrone Moore and Co. are a 5 loss team this season. They do not have a proper quarterback, and their offense is average at best. Going up against that and missing 2 field goals, and losing on a 3 point margin is just terrible. However, the Buckeyes are still on the playoff list.

That should mean something, right? See, Day lost to Michigan because he just didn’t have the confidence he had against the Hoosiers. If they had gone into this game with the right mindset, then this would be a blowout win against the Wolverines. But it is alright. All OSU gotta do right now is focus on the natty.

OSU for the National Champs

What’s your perspective on:

Is Ryan Day's Michigan loss a fireable offense, or are fans overreacting to one bad game?

Have an interesting take?

While it might sound easy, there is still a lot OSU has to tackle. See, with the UM loss, not only did they drop to the 6th spot on the playoff rankings, but they also lost their eligibility for the Big 10 title game. Now, with Penn State and Ducks going to battle over that one, OSU has a chance of falling further down the list.

With Boise State getting the win over UNLV and Arizona State getting a win over Iowa, some spots have to open up. See, the Hurricanes are out, and we all know that. Will Bama be pushed out as well? Because the Clemson game is still around the corner.

Regardless of what happens, Boise State, Arizona, and the winner of the SMU vs. Clemson game are going to start climbing the ranks. This could push OSU further down, which would mean losing the home game advantage. They already made a blunder against Michigan, and Day cannot allow it to happen again. If they lose their playoff game, then there is no excuse, and we would have to agree that the fans were right.
