Lane Kiffin and Ole Miss finally did it! All their recruiting efforts paid off as they managed to flip one of the top WRs of the 2025 class from their SEC rival, Alabama. After repeated visits and talks about the Rebels, 5-star WR Caleb Cunningham has finally come to the Sip to stay! But wait, his commitment could pave the way for other Ole Miss targets to follow suit.

Steve Wiltfong and Josh Newberg are back with fresh recruiting intel in the latest YouTube episode on On3 Recruits on November 14. They’re also joined by Chad Simmons, who delivered his take on 5-star QB Deuce Knight, who hails from the state of Mississippi. Newberg wondered if Caleb Cunningham’s flip had put Lane Kiffin and Ole Miss in a better position to attract the No. 6 QB. Simmons responded, “It doesn’t hurt. Look, they were just there together for the Georgia game, they hung out, they talked.”

When Deuce Knight committed to Auburn in early October after flipping from Notre Dame, he tried to flip Cunningham from Alabama. But now, as Simmons said, “They’ll go the other way around now with Caleb working to flip Deuce from Auburn and keep him stay home at Ole Miss.” As mentioned above, Knight was also present at Ole Miss’ 28-10 upset victory over Georgia, the game that flipped the No. 2 WR.

Knight’s presence alone isn’t what stood out and gave Auburn fans so many reasons to worry about losing him. He was among the crowd of excited fans who stormed the field after the Rebels’ stellar victory. Simmons added, “There’s no doubt I think Deuce will make Auburn sweat a little bit between now and December 4th. There will be communication with Ole Miss and that staff and of course other commits as well but definitely down not hurt their chances here.” And as far as recruitment goes, Ole Miss is steadily building up!

Lane Kiffin and Ole Miss steadily climbs the recruitment ladder

On November 13, Ole Miss secured their first and only 5-star player in their 2025 recruiting class with Caleb Cunningham’s commitment. It was a long time coming as the 6’3, 190-pounder already made multiple visits and his interest had been apparent despite his pledge to Kalen DeBoer. This valuable haul boosted their recruitment strength as they advanced three spots forward.

Ole Miss ranked No. 20 in the 2025 recruitment cycle before Cunningham’s pledge propelled them to No. 17 with 20 commits. Now, the Rebels next year’s class consists of one 5-star player, eight 4-star players, and 11 3-star commits.
