Ending all the controversies, when Ohio State faced the 10-0 Indiana Hoosiers, Will Howard came through once more. In the Hoosiers’ 38-15 loss, OSU’s quarterback completed 22 of 26 passes for 201 yards, two touchdowns, and one interception. Howard has improved steadily since leaving Kansas State and is now an essential member of Ryan Day’s squad. Following his comeback win over Indiana, an OSU legend reveals his expectations for Will Howard’s performance in the Michigan matchup.

When discussing OSU’s victory over Indiana on The Herd with Colin Cowherd on November 26, Urban Meyer set expectations for Will Howard by saying, “Will Howard’s been hammered and players to have a little fun go have at it but to answer your question at times I just wish you go hug your teammates and play.” As everyone knows, the athlete received a lot of criticism for his subpar performance against Northwestern and Penn State. He is currently getting ready to play against a team like Michigan.

Referring to the statistics of his performance for Michigan, Meyer stated, “I don’t know if I want to be a three-touchdown favorite. What do you make of that as a former Buckeye? Great, well we have a podcast and we are on the triple option and then we also have the Fox and I just had some notes that we were actually ranked or picked by three scores one time and it was a close game closer than three scores.” Adding, “So the minute someone says the Wolverines have bad players yeah you’re out of your mind they got excellent players like you just said that they’ve had some quarterback issues but a quarterback can get fixed in a game.” It’s just a signal for Howard to do all in his power to help OSU win.

Meyer further identifies Michigan as a strong team due to its talented players, including a great down lineman in Mason Graham, a monster interior D lineman who is the best in the nation, a great cornerback in Will Johnson, and other players who rank in the top six and seven. On top of this, Michigan also sent 15 players to the professional ranks. Now, you can probably guess what level of performance is needed to win, right?

But there is still a dispute over Will Howrad’s contentious “Cigarette” gesture at Curt Cignetti. Let’s explore it in more detail.

In the closing seconds of Saturday’s victory over the Hoosiers, OSU QB Howard was seen making fun of Indiana coach Curt Cignetti on the sidelines after he punched in a rushing TD from a yard out to increase OSU’s lead with less than a minute left in the game. Howard acted as though he was taking a puff from a cigarette before kicking out the fictitious cigarette butt on the sideline, obviously taking advantage of Cignetti’s tobacco-themed Hoosiers products. In addition, he shouted, “Google that s–t” at Cignetti, referencing one of the Hoosiers coach’s well-known sayings.

On the scoreboard at Ohio Stadium, OSU then carried on the trolling by displaying a newspaper image of Cignetti along with the words “Google it.” On top of this, due to Indiana’s greatest debut in program history, Cignetti-mania has swept over the state. “CIGNETTI” T-shirts and sweatshirts with the Marlboro cigarette logo and typeface have become popular among Hoosiers supporters. Let’s see what happens to the team’s QB in the future.
