Can Ohio State handle Michigan State without Tyleik Williams? How crucial is he to their defense?

Tyleik Williams is rightfully the bark of the tree that is the Buckeyes. He came to the team in 2021 and since then, has made waves for himself as one of the most outstanding defensive tackles in college football. As of 2024, he has recorded over 42 solo tackles and over 58 assists along with being the three-time Varsity O letterman who has played in 38 games throughout the past 3 seasons. Undoubtedly, he is one of the biggest weapons in the arsenal of the Buckeyes but an injury-riddled Williams couldn’t perform in their last game against the Marshall Thundering Herd. Thankfully, he has now recovered and will be looking to make a devastating impact on the field this weekend.

As per Pete Thamel, the college football senior writer for ESPN, Buckeyes’ defensive tackle Tyleik Williams has made a full-blown recovery and will play against the Michigan State Spartans on 29th September. After his absence from the game against Marshal, the Buckeyes picked Hero Kanu, the sophomore, to make his debut as a starting DT alongside Ty Hamilton but it looks like the star of the redshirts will be fighting the war against the Spartans for the glory of the Buckeyes.
